Although I am a Christian, I'm sure I could speak in this case for the Jews, the Muslims or any other religious group in asking why people seem to generalize us by what a few misguided souls did. Catholics are berated because of what some priests did, Muslims are berated because of what a few terrorists did and other Christians are berated because of what a few so called Christian leaders have said or done. Fred Phelps for example. Please do not assume that just because someone calls themselves a Christian, a Muslim, a Jew or whatever that they speak for all believers. I can assure you, they do not. I'm sure atheists could make this same request....not all non believers should be considered horrible people.

Atheists get lumped together too.
Grouping things is part of an inherent psychological mechanism that is necessary for survival...so we needn't hold it against people for acting according to unconscious instinctual principles. We would certainly do well to use better discretion though.

Let us take one at a time, people do not berate Catholics for what a few priests did, they berate Catholics for the entire history of the church and the followers taking the easy way out whenever one of their own does something horrid. It's not about kids being molested,it's about the church spending decades in a huge, organized effort to cover up that abuse that went to the very highest levels of the church. If cardinal Bernard Law knew about tons of these cases then so did the Pope, end of story. But instead of spending all their effort rooting out the abusers, getting them out of the church and making sure they were prosecuted they influenced victims and families to stay silent, they moved priests around and hordes of these cases went unprosecuted due to their actions. And the followers? Why they acted all indignant and angry for a short period of time until it was out of everyday news, then they started making excuses for the horrendous actions of the Church, then moved on to saying that all the people talking about these acts were generalizing and over reacting. We can cover Muslims and people like Phelps later,I think you get my point.

I agree with you completely. I am an atheist, but a vast majority of my friends are Christians, Muslims, Jewish, or Buddhist. We share many common non-religious beliefs, and we all agree that terrorism in the name of any belief is the ultimate discredit to that belief. I would never judge you for your beliefs, or judge anyone else for that matter. My opinions of people are always based on their actions taken as a whole. I try to be a positive influence for people, and I always treat my friends like family. Whether or not a person is "horrible" lies in their actions, not their thoughts or ideas.

You know I really believe their are good people out there who believe and not judge any religion. They maybe comfortable now but will they be later? and there's allot of people who go to church and judge many. This are the people who kind of ruin it for others who question religion because what they go around saying. That's why we have to be humble and help those who criticize other believers. The enemy will use any one to discourage the most vulnerable.Every body has a good and a bad side of them but we all need to be guided one way or another. And I really believe their are people who are so beautiful at heart and you'd think their walking in the way's of the lord this are the people who we have to pray for the most because the enemy will do anything from keeping them from getting saved .For he knows the weakness of the people.
Peace to the nation.

This is for believers. What bothers me is that we always talk about a Church, not just about God. We need to believe in God, and come together in the name of God, not being separated by different religious denominations.

As for the none-believers. We need to come together as human beings who have the same goal, peace on earth and amongst all people with and without a religious affiliation.

Will we achieve this? I don't think we can, because we are fallible humans.

I guess it is the same as lumping people of a similar race (like all asians for example) together. or all americans, or all russians. The diference is that for people who believe in religions, they are taught to think in certain ways (depending on thier religion) it is the beliefs of a person that affect the way they react in certain situations, therefore you can predict to a certain extent how a person will react in some situations depending on thier religion. :-)
