an Astronaut- needed to transport to new location
A scientist Needed to test and determine the surrounding and living condition
A teacher- knowledge and maybe a female which would be help ful in propagating the new colony
An Artist- usually handy and creative to aid in building

Any one of these can be Female or Male but it would be ideal for 2 of each.

The scientist, the artist, the teacher and the priest.

I don't see that the businessman and the politician have any skills which would be useful in establishing a new community from scratch. Although they would both probably try to s*^#w all the others, so maybe that could lead to a population explosion ...
The astronaut is only going to be useful for the duration of the trip and not after they land on the new planet - it's not as if they will be launching a spaceship to come back to Earth - so I would leave him/her behind as well.

Well, the business man is someone that knows how to make things happen. He or she understands how to build and create systems for trade, and thus creating an economy. So he's in.

A scientist will help us better understand the new planet, and perhaps create technologies that will assist us, so he is in.

An astronaut would get us there, and probably have some really cool stories to tell in the evenings, so the astronaut is in.

Finally, a teacher to help disseminate the acquired knowledge from the other three.

My youngest brother. He had a stroke at birth, paralyzing the use of his left arm. One leg is longer than the other. He graduates from 12 years of public schooling this year, making honors. It wasn't clear if he would walk, he ran. If he could ride a bicycle, he roller-bladed, he scootered, he swam. He overcame his handicap. He endured so much, particularly isolation from others. Today he remains the most innocent and non-corrupt person I have ever met. His emotions (which he doesn't display) didn't dictate his fate , but his perseverence and ability to absorb knowledge have proven that the human brain is capable of adapting without the complete acceptance of society.

If you ask me... my brother.

An astronaut to take us there. A scientist to help us find native foods. The teacher to pass knowledge on to the offspring. And the artist to give us entertainment.

I would pick the first 4 who came to me. Why?..all life is as important as the other, so from a moral standpoint, no one is more important than the other!
