Mexico is a heavily stratified society. There are a few rich people and many poor. The rich stay rich and the poor stay poor. The government is corrupt and has few programs to help the people better themselves.

Many countries, statistically and superficially, are wealthy and sustaining with a high population and democracy. That doesn't keep people from emigrating from them. Why? Well, in Mexico specifically, the government does not a happy people make. Many of the government's officials (especially speaking contemporarily) are corrupt, and police corruption is well known there. Also, the division of riches is incredibly uneven and misrepresented. The rich control most of the entire countries wealth, while the poor, who make up the vast majority of the population, share the leftovers amongst millions.
Research the Mexican water debt. It was a terrible issue -- an insufferable drought that claimed many lives -- with an ill-conceived, last ditch effort solution. Now multiply that incidence's causes and effects by a dozen, and you have the last 50 years or so in Mexico and its territories.
Why ever would someone want to emigrate from such a well-off country? Because it doesn't take a whole lot -- especially in the way of details -- to be well off on paper. It's the same old, same old; many of our oldest immigrants (namely from Europe and Asia) came for the same reasons. China is obviously not hurting for cash, but when conditions in the homeland are less than satisfactory and you know of a solution across the water, why not hop on a plane or boat and seek out something better?

Go to Mexico and ride around outside the cities. It is still a country a massive poverty. The country may be 'democratic' but does not provide the government subsidised funding programs for the poor and indigent. That is the main reason most of the Mexican immigrants have for coming here. Aside from jobs that actually pay more than a few dollars for a days work, the ones that I know personally have come for one or the other of these reasons, if not for both.

I am an American living in Mexico, and I can tell you that there is a lot of poverty, hunger, desperation. There are A LOT of rich people, but there is not a lot of upward mobility. Most people that are wealthy had the money necessary to secure their standing. The professionals that I work with don't have much free spending money. They live in small houses and drive used cars. There is some movement to a larger middle class, but this group has nothing close to the middle classes of W Europe, the US, or Canada.

It is amazing that with such a rich amount of history this country has, its people still remain ignorant. You mention the lack of education in mexicans, and I have to question yours. The first waves of immigrants in the late eighteen hundreds, were yes, from europe and asia, and were mostly poor, uneducated, subdived, violent, and could not speak english. Compared to the rough beginnings of all other immigrants, the plight of mexicans is no diffrent. As to address your question of why mexicans come to america, it's mainly because people get paid very little, 50 dollars a week is the average for the working class, this wouldent be such a problem if everything cost accordingly, but clothes, shoes and electronics cost the same in mexico as they do in the U.S, Can you really blame them for trying to live a better life?

It's really all a conspiracy. It will be known as the great silent invasion, where mexico takes back not just part of the United States but all of it without even lifting a weapon. Of course it will be paid for by the United States from all the wages paid and not taxed, but sent to Mexico at an outrageous exchange rate. It's really a brilliant plan.

apparently Mexico isn't as wealthy as one may think. have you personally been to Mexico and witnessed the absent signs of hunger, starvation, and high unemployment. I've witnessed it firsthand. I've seen the poor beg for money just like our homeless. I've seen the poor sleep on the street just like our homeless. I've seen it. I've also witnessed our so-called poor Americans here in America. the same ones in the welfare line wearing name brand clothes and name brand shoes, with hair and nails just done. walking out with a check to a brand new car on expensive rims. I've seen these abominations. I'm not saying that every person on welfare is not poor. But i have seen plenty of so-called poor people and its just sad to think that it's Americans committing these crimes and Mexicans getting blamed.

First you gotta know that there are well educated and social responsible people in Mexico, and I agree with you but that's exactly my point , the educated people in mexico don't need to immigrate, they can get a job here.
