Take to the dry cleaner; most will also do a regular wash of large items. It'll probably run you about $30. Look for coupons in your mailbox though - a lot of dry cleaners put ads in those "saver mailings" and for household items you can get 15% off or so.
By the way, pick up a can of "Spot Shot" for dog accidents...you will be SHOCKED at how you spray it on and it sucks up stains!

I think you would be safe in washing it. I would wash it in a large capacity washer on cold water wash with Woolite. Dry on low heat.
If you take it to the cleaners, ask if they are going to dry clean it or wash it. Oftentimes, they follow the laundry instructions, and they will end up washing it anyway. This happened to me once. I put a comforter and shams in the cleaners for dry cleaning, and I made it very clear the items were to be dry cleaned. When I got them back, the laundry labels on the shams were crisp and new looking. The one on the comforter was limp and faded, and the comforter smelled of laundry detergent. It was fine, though. It wasn't faded or anything like that.
Washing may be the only way to freshen up the bedding and get the urine smell out.
Make sure you have a waterproof cover for your mattress in case he does it again.
Good luck. I hope it turns out okay for you.

Dry cleaning will cost about $30 and take 2 weeks. If it's just a "small spot" try putting some dish soap on it and wash that spot only in the sink. I've done this a couple of times and then hang it over shower curtain rod to dry.

I would take the bedding to a professional. If you wash it yourself, providing you have a machine big enough for a king, it will lose its luster. A pro can prevent that. The cost will be less than to buy a new one, but won't be cheap.

Go ahead and wash it. Wash in cold or warm water and try to dry it on the outside clothes line and when it is dry bring it in and put it in the dryer to make it more softer. You may have to take it to a laundry mat beings it is King Size...good luck to you and I am sure by washing your comforter it will come out okay. I wash mine in my washer and it comes out okay. I wash mine in cold water and woolite.

Might as well find the cheapest way to clean it, it won't be the last time. Wash it and spread it out to dry on the line.

the cleaners will be expensive.
Take it to a laundromat and use thier large capacity front load washer. $3.00 a load last time I used one...
Front load washers are more gentle to the stuff you are washing than a top loader.
Top load washers, even the largest currently made for home use, are not capable of properly agitating a large comforter.
Dry cleaning will cost a small fortune... (possibly more than you paid for the comforter)
