I love living in Canada.
Haven't been to Montreal though.
I would say that for someone from Cuba, Canada would be a very good place to move to.

Here is some immigration information:
In order to get Permanent Resident status in Canada, you have to go through the immigration process, which will take 1-3+ years and cost $1,200 per person in application fees and associated costs. You can get all of the information, application forms, and instructions at the official Canada Immigration website:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/

There are several classes to apply for immigration under:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.html
and a questionaire to help determine your eligibility under the skilled worker class:

It's one of the best places to live in Canada: low crime rate compared to other big cities, excellent public transit, world class cultural facilities and festivals throughout the year that attract tourists and keep locals entertained. The winters are long and cold, but it has probably the best nightlife of any city with the same climate, so you get used to it.

However, it will limit your employment options if you do not speak French. Canada may be officially bilingual, and some parts of Montréal are predominantly English, but French remains the first language of the city. There are plenty of places to help you learn, but just speaking English will not be enough to get the most out of the city.

Canada is WONDERFUL. i wouldn't live anywhere else on earth!
Montreal is a beautiful city with a lot of history and culture. i'd place it at #3 on my favorite cities. bested only by Vancouver at #1. Calgary & Edmonton are tied for 2nd.

oh yeah, i forgot to tell you that (see below) about montreal.
