Ok I have this huge list for you and then my laptop lost battery power and died...OY! Ok....ready I lived in NYC when I was younger for about 5 years and have many friends and family still there... I'm in CT now...OK
Things to do-
Empire state building
Statue of Liberty
Ellis Island
9/11 Memorial where twin towers once stood
Times Square
Tiffany & Co on 5th it's 4 floors and amazing! I dropped a grand last time I was there!
Central Park (Tavern on the Green) amazing restraunt in the park
The zoo in central park
Rockerfeller Center
Canal st for diamonds
5th ave for shopping
GO to a broadway show
Any comedy club
If you are into dance clubs try either 40/40 Jay z's club *(one of my best friends chills w/ Jay z everyweekend there)
Also if your into techno...there Sound Factory...bring your dancing shoes! :)
What else....just walk the streets, the place is a giant grid of squares...easy to get lost in my opinion, but most say that makes it easier...get maps and such, get to know the subways they will be your best friend...Get a metro card
Let's not forget the Wax Museum and MoMa
Don't forget to get your I LOVE NY t-shirt too!
Places to stay:
Personally, I love, love, love the Marriott Marquis (in the heart of times sq)
Also either at the top or darn near it there is a rotating restraunt (star something it's been a few years) It's pretty cool
Looks for hotels that you recongize by brand if it's new to you some are complete dumps and some are way over priced.
******BRING MONEY****** NYC is a expensive place, I'm not saying walk around with a wad of cash, but bring your charge cards, I've never walked out an NYC rest paying less then 50 bucks a head at min. 4 people with booze ur talking 250 +
Other places to eat that are cheaper are the local deli's they pack a huge punch portion size, try Roxy ( 3 story star studded hangout) Maxie (amazing Cheese Cake), Katz's or Ben Ash!
Also Italian....San Domienco....major wine list also! :)
Also HEARTLAND BREWERY....all seafood, beef, or authentic BBQ ( huge wine list)
Bottom line...look online see links below!
HAVE FUN! BE SAFE..BRING WALKING SHOES!
You'll fall in love all over again ! :)

You've got a great list of must-see's. I'd recommend taking the M4 bus down Fifth Avenue. What a view--Trump Tower, Tiffany's, St. Pat's and Rockefeller Center. You should definitely try the subway for the experience, but you don't really get to see anything.
Restaurants: do take advantage of the pizza and bagels, as people have said. Buy a pretzel or falafel from a street vendor. I'm not crazy about the hot dogs from the vendors because they just sit in water. Grilled dogs like Nathan's or Sabrett's (or Papaya King, thought to have the best) are better. Are you looking for inexpensive or something a little more upscale? I could name some great Spanish (not Mexican, there's a difference) restaurants, or some nice Italian places, if you'd like, but I don't know what you're looking for. Whatever you do, don't go to some chain place that you could go to anywhere.

Let me just put it this way - you MUST go to Manhattan no matter what! Spend the entire day all over the city! And you HAVE to go to 42nd street Times Sq. but go at night because that's when its really exciting - the lights and attractions always excite tourists. Even though I live here, i still get hyped too! Thats's the great thing about New York - even the people who live here don't get tired or over the city. It's always exciting in Manhattan. Go shopping, try the pizza or whatever b/c the food in New York is better than in any other city in the U.S.! And you obviously must bring a camera - you're stupid not to! It will be a memorable experience! Hope I helped:)

Kinda depends upon what you like, but I'd say any of the following:
The Empire State Building
Museum of Natural History
Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)
Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met)
A Concert at Lincoln Center
A Broadway Show
Visit to Central Park
Visit Times Square
St. Patrick's Cathedral
Soho
Greenwich Village (The "Village")
Chinatown
Little Italy
Shopping at Macy's and along 5th Avenue
A sports event or concert at Madison Square Garden
Cruise around Manhattan Island
The Statue of Liberty
Ellis Island
Take a ride in a cab, and maybe a subway ride, just for the experience.
And if you must, a visit to where the World Trade Center stood.
BTW - be careful of panhandlers (especially in the subways), and don't walk around at night anywhere other than well lit main streets and avenues. Most of the city is very safe, but there are still some lousy areas.

Well being that I live in ny. I would have to say victorias secret...usually I go there with my mom, she'll look at the under wears and stuff and I would look at the lotions, perfume etc. They have nice smelling stuff there. If u go there than check out "Love Spell".can't forget the clothing stores...old navy, macys, target, sears and lots more. There's also a lot of glam stores like there's this new cinderella store and they have lots of girly stuff, when u first walk in all u will see are shiny stuff lol. And if u have a small dog, there's this pet store that sells clothes, hats, shoes & stuff for your doggy. I took my dog shopping there a few times. Have fun. I need to go shopping now :)

There is a lot to experience in New York, because it's kind of a "melting pot" of cultures. I would say the "must try" in the food department would be bagels and pizza...the best bagel I ever had was in New York! Have a fun trip! :)

NYC is great, but if you want the best pizza in the world, you need to take a bus from the Port Authority bus terminal over to Hudson County in New Jersey. Almost any one of them will be better than anything you could hope to find in the City.

don't do any of the tourist attractions. that just takes away from the experience. wander around anywhere in nyc and you will find cool stuff. that is the true experience of being in nyc. for food, Figaro Cafe is amazing. time cafe is also really good, and so is French Roast. Nothing fancy but I like it:)

you dont need to take any food, there are many many items there to choose from..but my number 1 rule is flat shoes and a warm jacket...not a heavy coat...although the weather may be cold, you dont want to be bogged down on subways or shopping with a heavy coat..layer your shirts and sweaters and opt for a lined jacket..enjoy
