You can start by contacting the Arizona Social Anxiety Therapy Group, they would probably be able to give you some recommendations. They can be reached at 602.230.7316. To read more info, check out their website at http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/local.html.

YOU ARE IN LUCK!!! The program that changed my life is in Arizona .... click on link below!
Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression,
http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/ds...
There is hope; I've been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cognitive_b... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I've tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.
Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.
Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.
The program that finally worked the best for me is this one: http://www.socialanxiety.us/findinghelp.... and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.
I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med in addition to CBT therapy.
Any questions, let me know ... I can't tell you how much this has improved my life!

I would try the yellow page, then call around for a free phone consultation. Ask them what is their expertise is, how long has they been in practice, if they had worked on the similar case as you, how much does it cost, etc....then make an appointment. If goes well, stay, if do not, move on until you find some one you feel comfortable. After all therapy / patient relationship IS a relationship. You two must click. That would be the best therapist for you.

I'm not from Arizona, I'm in Pennsylvania, but if you have a primary care doctor, they can refer you to someone who can help you with what your feeling. If you don't have a primary care physician, look in the yellow pages and get a name.
Please don't take the advice of the person who told you to go out and find someone with a xanax! It's very dangerous to take other people's medication, and xanax is highly addictive. Good luck.

I live in Arizona (Tucson). There is a place called 'SAMHC', which is free, and will treat you for up to three months. Even your medications will be covered by CPSA (whether or not you have AHCCCS, and regardless of your income. Everyone who works at SAMHC is, at minimum, at Master's Level. They have psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, and many others. They diagnose, help you to apply for AHCCCS (if you don't have it), refer you to another clinic after your three months are up, and help you to get free medication from the manufacturers--if you are not AHCCCS eligible.
Phone 'Information and Referral' (which is in Tucson, but now has an '800' number for statewide calls). They will tell you where to go if SAMHC is not in your vicinity.

In the mean time, find a friend who has Xanax. It is wonderful , works fast, no side effects and you only take it when you feel really bad. it is a life jacket for me. I just keep it with me and use it rarely. It has saved my life though. You know how bad it gets sometimes,
