From what I have read, I learned that I have to charge my ebay customers a sales tax if they live in the same state as me. Where can find out if Maryland charges any tax and how much?
Thanks

Are you running a business or just cleaning out the garage?

If you are in Maryland and are holding yourself out as a business and you sell tangible personal property delivered within Maryland, you probably will need to register with the State Comptroller's Office.

Rummage around their website. There may be some clear published guidance.

If you are NOT engaged in business and are just cleaning out the house of old stuff, forget taxes.

The seller (generally, not ebay) has to collect sales tax for the state that the seller has a direct connection. In most cases, if the purchaser (you) and the seller are in the same state, then sales tax MUST be collected.

If you sell on EBay, and live in Md. and tell the Md. Gov., you will have to pay.
