does a pap smear exam hurt?

i am still a virgin, so do i really need one? how does it work? i am scared please give me tips and advice on how to deal with it. how to prepare for it?

you dont need one really if youre a virgin and youre young. its not as painful as it is humiliating!! cold and humiliating. yuckorama. if youre very old...you might get one every two or three years if there's cervical cancer running in the family.

It doesn't hurt but it is a little uncomfortable..and embarassing. I believe the purpose of a pap is to check for cancer.
