What is the deal with my cat? What can I do to make her stop being bad?!?
I've had my cat for a few months, and for the most part she is good. but recently, she has been peeing and pooping outside the box. The box is really clean, and Pretty big. sometimes she just craps right next to it, and sometimes she'll scoop sand out and then crap.

I bring her over to it and then spray her with water to let her know that it is bad.

I give her attention and I'm not mean to her, Nothing in my life has changed recently.

Why is she being suck a punk?

I have carpet in my kitchen and I'm getting so fed up of renting a carpet machine every weekend I'm thinking of giving her up.

But, I love her what can I do to make her stop now?!

Have you changed her litter--different brand, different texture, etc??? This is generally the reason most cats ignore their litter box. As for spraying your cat with water--unless you catch her in the act, it's a useless tactic. The best thing is when you see her get ready to go outside her box, pick her up and put her in it.
My cats came from the local shelter and could care less what type I use, but they tend to not want to cover up their mess and throw some of it (the litter) on the floor when I use the more gravely types. That's my experience with the mattter.

Before you do anything rash, try a few things first. Never punish your cat for peeing and pooping, even if it's in a place that you feel is inappropriate. This is very confusing for your cat. First thing, is the litter box one with a cover over it? If it is, remove the cover. Move the litter box to a new location. Add a couple of other litter boxes throughout the house. And try different litters. You may also want to try a cat litter call Cat Attract. If you can't find it in your local pet supply store you can get it on line. You can also try the Cat Attract powder. Your vet. should be able to get it for you or you can get it on line as well. Don't give up, help is just around the corner.

She is definitely trying to tell you something. You just have to figure out what it is. It sounds like she's displeased with either her litter box or litter. Does she have trouble getting in and out of it? Is it too deep for her? Try a different kind of litter! Tidy Cat is good or Fresh Step. Or if you're using one of those two, try a plain clay litter. Maybe she dislikes the scent.
Taking her back to the site and spraying her with water will NOT help. She has no idea by then what she did wrong. Just try different solutions and love her. She really IS trying to make you understand what she can't say in words.
Good luck!

My young lady did this when I switched litter type: from standard scoop-able to these little white plastic balls. I switched back to scoop-able and it took awhile to get her back into the litter box habit.
Maybe the scent is embedded in the carpet now! Can you move the litter box to an uncarpeted area, and cover or treat the carpet with a pet deterrent? Speak to your vet about pet friendly sprays.
Keep in mind that cats go through stages. Mine are three 6-8 mths old kittens. They eat my plants and go places they shouldn't - this too shall pass. If she is young, give it time.
