This question made me laugh out loud. I don't think that farting shows the cook that you enjoyed it. I think that just means you have a fast metabolism and are rude and gross.

Nowadays it would be considered vulgar to fart at the dinner table. At one point it was considered a compliment. I think that may have come from the fact that the man of the house just felt like passing gas at the time.
