This year I realized that I had developed IBS. For people who have the same problem you know how embarrassing it can be, especially when you're in a public place.

I've never had this problem before and it just made me so upset. I skip breakfast altogether now before I go to school and I take medication to control it. But there's one class in particular where I just get IBS attacks. I think it's because it's my most difficult class. I tried to transfer out, but it's too late in the school year and I can't have my seat changed either (I'm sitting with a bunch of people behind me, making me more uncomfortable)

I just can't control myself when I'm in that class, esp. when I have to take exams which stress me out. Some of my classmates definitely notice my IBS attacks and I'm really embarrassed. Any tips on how to relax and stop getting attacks in that class? Please - it's imperative.

hi i was diagnosed with ibs at christmas.. i'm17 .. n i know exactly what your going through.. i sometimes used to skip lessons cos i just felt so embarassed going to the toilet all the time..

all i can suggest is theres a herbal remedy called "karms" (can buy from Holland & Barretts) which can make you less nervous and stressed which would ease your ibs.. it helped me.

you should also start to keep a food diary of what you're eating in order to figure out what foods make you most ill.. then cut them out

good luck!

-Adult with rotten Colitis that almost killed me!! This is just rotten isn't it!!! Stress can have some influence but sometimes it just acts up for no reason whatsoever!! I would suggest getting a medical bracelet (like diabetics sometimes wear- I'm Diabetic too), and explain this to your teacher so they understand that you need to go to the washroom more than most people, and, hopefully, they can compensate you with extra time for writing your exam because of this condition!
