I just got her back tonight and I am gonna run to the store but it's now already 10:40 pm, and Wal*Marts the only place open.
Is there anything there I can get for my dog that is effective?
I dont wanna waste my money.. but I know sometimes they might have something that works.
I need something to get them off quickly bc they are in her ears and every where else.
HELP!?

do not call your vet, get out the tweezers and start working. most of the flea and tick killers that use to be effective on embedded ticks are illegal now.
really though, your mini pin is not going to suffer from this unless there really are tons of them on her and you leave them there., she might get a little lethargic or fatigued from the blood loss. think about all those raccoons, squirrels, deer, wolves, foxes, bobcats, etc running around out there without flea/tick collars on... how do they survive?

There is a great tick removal instrument called a tick spoon. Removes ticks like a dream. I doubt walmart has them ... sorry. A good flea and tick shampoo should work for now. But a high load of ticks can cause some health problems (not heart worm which is caused by mosquitoes). If you can call your vet for more info that would be the best. After try a good flea/tick product like Frontline to prevent future problems.

Fill a bowl with alcohol, grab some tweezers and start plucking. Submerge the ticks in the alcohol to kill them. I'd be worried about deer ticks if you're in an area with a high incidence. Speak to your vet tomorrow and be sure to put your dog on something like Advantix. I do not recommend the products sold at walmart, supermarkets, etc. A lyme test may be in order soon as well.

Responding to above: Frontline is definitely good, but the ticks must bite the dog, they are then killed. Advantix repels ticks.

Get some flea and tick shampoo and give her a bath, leaving her lathered up for at least 5 minutes. Pick off as many ticks as you can. If the ticks are the really big ones, she should go to the vet tomorrow because she can get extremely anemic. Also even with one tick, but more likely with a lot of ticks she can get tick fever which can paralyze her. Someone dropped a dog off on us a few years ago with a very heavy infestation of the huge ticks and she almost died. Had to take her to the vet where we picked ticks off of her for about an hour, then she was dipped, then she was given fluids and blood and antibiotics and made it.

Just pick them off of him tonight, then in the morning go to a pet store and buy FRONTLINE! Frontline works the best, because you only put it on his neck, that way he can't lick or chew at the medicine, and he won't get sick! I feel that FRONTLINE is the best method! But before you do that ask your vet, they might have a better solution... but Frontline works for fleas, mites, and ticks!

tweezers and vasaline ...use tweezers to get them out they can burrow into the skin! use the vasaline to suffocate them then use the tweezers to get them out!

You really need to take your puppy to the vet and get her checked for heart worms. My puppy had a tick once and she got heart worms bad news we didnt find out until it was almost too late. But she made it just fine with treatment.

Then you can use flea and tick prevention after they are all gone.

What ever you do hurry.

oh and to kill the ticks put them in a glass of water so they drown. you can not squeeze them to death with the tweezers!!

If they are embedded already you might have to pull them out with tweezers. I dont know of anything for ticks.

The only thing I can recommend is to take them off with tweezers. One by one. Then give her a bath in some really good and soothing shampoo.
