Make sure that you put a true DVD in it. If it is a CD, it may not play properly in your DVD player. Or, the DVD player may be dirty......

DO NOT USE A COTTON SWAB AND ALCOHOL ON THE LASER EYE!!! How silly people can be. That will most definitely cause you more problems then its worth. Go to Walmart and buy you a good Dvd cleaner. It is a Dvd with little scrubbers on the disc. They are very cheap and you can use it many times. I guarantee that will fix your problem and you won't have to worry about buying a new dvd player "if" you use the cue tip and alcohol. lol. Cheers

This happens to my daughers DVD player all the time a DVD cleaner should help. I figured out the reason for this was that she never turned her player off. She would leave it on the menu all day and all night. I guess it gets tired. LOL.

Be VERY careful but use a cotton swab to clean the inside with rubbing alcohol ... it happens all the time with my PlayStation 2.
