Yes, a good one does. He/she will also need a medical history and possibly some lab tests.

not necessary ... I think you don't need every time you see a doctor or take medicines to be checked for vital signs, either because of the nature of the disease you got may not relate to them( psychological illness for example..) or because of the drug that has been prescribed to you doesn't affect vital signs at all ( acetaminophen for example..)

Nope. Some physicians will just talk to you about the drug itself, and take your personal history. A good physician will perform a physical, but it's not standard.

Yes. Certain drugs do things to your body and if your vitals are off he may have to prescribe something else.

No... Taking your vital signs just means your alive. They should however, run some tests and make sure everything will be peachy keen upon administering them. Make sure you don't have an allergic reaction or anything.

well its common sense. people change and sometimes your blood pressure , respiratory rate, and heart rate change with different illnesses, environments, or even climate changes. now if a doctor prescribes you a medicine and a contraindication is high blood pressure or high heart rate then he/she would be investigated and sued for such a petty silly mistake . i think saving the lawsuits are saved for bigger mistakes.

I would say so. They don't want to prescribe something that will cause high blood pressure, if you already have high blood pressure etc...
