This is the first marriage for both of us and neither of us have children and she has been to the U.S. before on a tourist visa, but we just met 8 months ago and don't have a lot of combined assets to show bona fides for our union. I hear the wait times vary widely for different countries-anywhere between 3 months to 3 years. Does anyone have any idea?

I would keep your assets separate from hers because if god forbid you got a divorce she can't take you to the cleaners like a lot foreign women do with American men.

If you are a citizen, then she is automatically an American citizen once she marries you.
