Everyone is correct, your age should not be a problem. Now your loans...look up the base pay for an E-1 and see if you can cover your bills. The only problems would be if you have horrible credit (which would hinder your security clearance) or you have so much debt that military pay would cause you to fall behind in payments.
You must want to be in the service, otherwise don't consider it. The benefits can be good, but if you are deployed you can't use most of them until you're back.
Do you live near any military installations? If so visit with some of the people that work there. Talk to a recruiter, but approach it like you are trying to find a good job. INTERVIEW him. Ask to visit a base and interview real people...NOT their recruitment materials. Find out which jobs people like and which jobs they don't. Then decide what job you'd like.
Some services will offer different education benefits...figure those that offer the most money is because its the "least" desireable jobs or fewer people end up using the education money. Sometimes there will be enlistment bonuses and bonuses for hard to fill jobs. Also, you may get to enlist with more rank if you already have some education or you enlist for a longer period.
Military services have virtually every job you can think of in the civilian world. Everything from cops, doctors, electricians, mechanics, teachers, accountants, finance, communications, HR or equal opportunity employment, etc. But services still specialize in different things:
Marines: elite combat (expect to deploy)
Army: combat (expect to deploy)
Navy: technical, but many jobs will have you at sea for 6 mos then in for 6.
Air Force: similar to the Navy but no 6 mos at sea. (some jobs deploy more than others, but most are only 4 mos at a time every other year.)
Good luck, I hope you find what you're looking for an enjoy.

Absolutely! Serve your country PLEASE! This country is full of young people afriad to serve, but not open their big mouth and denounce the country. Just look at the questions and answers from america haters. At least you'll be prepared to fight whats coming. And it is coming! I did 6 years in the Air Force. Now going to college, thanks to the military. What i hate about college is all the cowards afraid of their own shadow. I believe it should be mandatory to serve the country you are a citizen of. If you dont serve, No college, No income over $20,000 a year Ever! No voting rights. No speaking against your country. Please serve and you'll be proud. And never help a non server!!

Since they are in need of more soldiers, I think they would accept you. All men between the age of 18-26 can be drafted into the army. SO you are still within the age range. I think hyou should join the Navy.

Make sure you want to join the Army for more than compensation. You really have to have a desire to serve to be successful. About being too old, not at all, you will probably be well respected as long as you keep yourself out of teen drama. Also loans shouldn't be a problem.
