By the way, I'm in Cali and we're taking modeling pictures on Thursday and Friday. He says he really wants to come but I don't wanna deprive him of his natural home-state! Need help!

It's his choice. Where will he stay in NY? Where will he work? What happens if it does not work out between the two of you?
If he wants to be with you badly enough, then he will make those sacrifices for you (such as leaving his home state).
If you have answers to those three questions above, then go for it!
