Ostrich tastes like a gamey version of a cross between venison and turkey. There's also a distinct flavor about it that I can only describe as Ostrich. It's something I tried a few times, but mostly I've always been unimpressed.

Ostrich meat is nothing like chicken!! Ostrich is a very lean dark red meat making it healthier than beef to consume..because of the low fat content it cannot be cooked more than med. rare..at the most, because it will be tough. Pairs well with wild berry demi-glaze and good shiraz.

It has exactly the same texture as a steak and tastes very similar to steak also, but with a subtle buttery or black pepper like tang. It has a lovely butter like aroma whilst cooking. It's delicious. Chewy but tender at the same time, and really far more like red meat than meat from a bird.

It is really lovely, it is like beef, but has less fat while still retaining a good flavour. Apparently the cholesterol levels are very low as well. In London you can buy at Borough Market, which is heaven for anyone who loves good food.
