I believe that all scripture is God-inspired. For those who don't, how can you account for such an accurate description of so many years of history, and all the proficies about Jesus that were fulfilled? The Bible couldn't have been made up by one man, and it seems pretty remarkable for even a group of people to come up with something this incredible.
Just the nature of Jesus is unfathomable; it's part of the reason the Jews don't believe Jesus is the Messiah, because He wasn't what they were expecting.
And if you don't believe, then explain why the Bible is so solid, the best-selling book in the world, and why Christianity has always grown so rapidly.

And have you ever read the Bible?

There's no god....The bible was written and compiled by dozens of early medieval monks who wanted to make a name for themselves. It's all horseshit!

Laughing my freaking butt off.

You can NOT be serious.

Think about it. If scripture is God-inspired, one would THINK it would be a little bit more, well... coherent, consistent, and applicable.

But it's not. It's loaded to the brim with obvious inconsistencies, contradictions, absurdities, falsehoods, cruelties, intolerance, and asinine rationalizations.

If you look to the Bible for accurate historical records, I highly suggest you look somewhere else. The fact of the matter that you don't know the Bible's authors (yes... there were quite a few. The Bible is a collective work, compiled by a committee.) should pretty much give you an idea of how reliable it is.

Jesus didn't fulfill ANY prophesy in the Old Testament... which is remarkable for two reasons. First of all, many extraordinary claims were made about this man, none of which have any basis in reality... and SECOND, the authors of the gospels had access to the works of the Old Testament!! That's a major scholarly failure on the part of the Bible authors.

You end your question with nothing more than the ad-nauseam refuted Argumentum ad Populum. The second best-selling book of all time is Quotes from Chairman Mao Zedong. What's your point? Just because many people believe in something doesn't make it true.

Do a little homework and try again. Everything I posted here... nothing more than simple observation.

Edit: Uh, of COURSE I read it... how do you think I made all these observations?

The bible wasn't written by god, it was written by many people, over many years. The old testament was mainly compiled by the Jews as a collection of history, law, and tradition. The new testament was written by Christians as telling about Jesus Christ and as communication between church leaders giving each other advice.

The bible that we have today was decided upon in the thirteenth century by a council of 13 churches. They compared all the books that were being used and taught from, and picked these to include in a compilation that all churches should use. So when it says in one book, that it is inspired by God, it is talking about that book, not the whole bible, since when that book was written the bible didn't actually exist.

It's a shame that the bible was created so long ago, and that it just ends there. I'm sure that God didn't stop sending prophets and guides to us, we just don't think of them in the same way since they're not in the official bible. Like Joan of Arc, perhaps even Merlin (of King Arthur) was a prophet. I think that the Bible is good, but it's not the be-all and end-all of existence. I myself learned more about how to be what Jesus said we should be from other sources. The bible is often cryptic, or not explained well.

I think the main problem with Christian Dogma is they want to condemn everyone that is not Christian to hell if they don't convert. I don't think God would be so cruel, do you?

It is not an accurate account and in fact there are parts of it that were left out, were you aware of this fact? There are other writings that were not included in the complication of the bible because the scholars who were in charge of compiling it at the time it was found, chose only the passages that they deemed necessary and acceptable and could actually read and understand. They did not speak the language they just learned to decipher it, clearly not the same thing and therefore it is biased in it's own right.

Even the fact that the bible is numbered in the way it is proves this fact If several people wrote the book why is that it is numbered like that? Do you honestly think 40 people would write things down in the exact same manner? We know this to be false. A group of students given the exact same assignment will clearly show variations on it. Each student will put something unique into it, some will be in point form, some in paragraph form, etc. etc. None of them will be exactly like the other.

Therefore we can conclude that the bible was compiled from a group of writings and only certain points or writings were taken from it. Thus proving its biased.

I tell you a story about my life and I say to you the following; I am a celtic fairy, I am sailor, I like to ski, I have 15 brothers and sisters and once my sister got locked in the bathroom because the door handle broke.

Now take this story with only certain parts to ...................Celtic fairy had 15 brothers and sisters who once locked a sister in bathroom...................................does the story mean the same thing now? Can you infer something different from this statement? I can infer that my brothers and sisters were mean to my sister but that is not the thruth ...........but it is what I wanted you to perceive.......................maybe the bible is or was the word of GOD but man has corrupted it to the point of uselessness and that is the point.

The point is that it is not accurate, is biased in its application and therefore useless and even destructive to humanity as a whole, expecially since we use it to govern our lives and have used it for centuries. Has not worked so far has it? Sorry but I prefer to stick with facts when making decisions that matter to me and all of humanity.

The bible is not "solid". It is full of contradictions and bad advise.

It is a hodge-podge of simple stories, told with poor grammar and writing style.

It's a best-selling book because there is no accounting for taste and it's been around the longest time. Want to know another best selling book? Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (also fiction).

Finally, Christianity has always grown rapidly because it preys on the ignorant. Chrisitans are fast running out of ignorant civilizations to bully into conversion, so their growth is declining.

Chrisitanity is a sinking ship.

Actually you are correct in that the bible wasn't written by just one man. It took several men to put together something so uncohesive as the bible.

You may also want to look into the history of the bible. You may find it interesting that the bible is a compilation of many different stories, some which were purposefully left out (google: apocrypha). You might want to question why they were left out, and who made the decision to leave them out.

Why do you think that just because a book is a best seller, that it must be non-fiction? Harry Potter series has been a best seller.....do you believe in Harry?

It was not written by one man or God either, but by many people in different languages over a span of many, many years. It has been mis-interpreted, rewritten, omissions have been made intentionally, additions have been made intentionally, too.

Please pay attention to when Jesus actually speaks himself in the Bible and what someone 40 years or more after his death SAID he said. There's a difference.

Ask yourself if it makes sense to you, do some research on the many contradictions and the many times it has been rewritten. Read about the Dead Sea Scrolls, about Isis & Osiris, Krishna, Horus, Mithra.

The basic story of Jesus has been around for thousands of years before Jesus was supposed to have lived.

Watch The Exodus Decoded on the History channel. That's a very good start to see how things can be seen differently by different people.

And remember, most religious people have been raised with religion, and a lot of them do not really question it, or even read the Bible themselves. People always want someone to take care of them, to make them feel safe, and loved. It's a basic human feeling.

The American Indians did not have the God of the Jews, but they have a good account of their history, passed by word of mouth from generation to generation.

No matter what, no supreme being would knowingly create billions of souls he would then send to hell for all eternity. That would be insane. Sending people to hell for not believing in something they were never told about, or just cannot percieve to be true is not the act of a supreme being. It's the act imagined by fear filled primitives. That's the main reason I know the bible is just a book, no matter who wrote it and no matter how many prophecies that can be pointed at. A supreme being cannot be threatened by people building a tall building, believing they will break into heaven. A supreme being would never choose one people to save. He would never send bears to tear 42 children to bits for calling Isaiah a bald old coot. I don't care how many people buy it or how fast it spreads. That has never been an indication of truth. I do recognize some truth in the bible, and I am glad if it brings people peace and causes them to treat each other kindly. Somehow, it often seems to have the opposite effect. By their fruits you shall know them.

The Bible was inspired by God, but written by man. God is the author, but man was the writers. It's so amazing that all these random people wrote the Bible, but Jesus is the chain through all the scriptures. It had to be inspired by God. Would like a whole bunch of different strangers really say, "hm, let's make up a story about a man who walks the earth, He's God, but He's man too, and he does all these really cool things." God is way too complex for it just to be a random story or history book. It was inspired. God must have spoke to man to make this happen.

I mean lives have been changed and saved. It's too amazing for the human mind.

Not remarkable at all when you consider that in all probability, the bible, being a collection of different books, was originaly a history of different events told in the eyes of those who witnessed those events either first hand or later heard about them and then, later, was rewritten to reflect the views of a growing sect of power mongers who then became the cult we know today as christianity. As for its popularity, thats because (1) Its an excellent tool for those in power to use to controll their followers AND (2) People need something to believe in and someone to follow. The mistake they make, in most cases, is to give up their objectivity and freedom to question those in authority.

God told the people that He chose what to say and write. It's in the Bible, 11Peter 1:21 " For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." God is the source of all the information in the Bible. It's in the Bible, 11Timothy 3:16
