What is posessing these teachers to find there 10 and 11 year old students objects of their perversions?

I think there are a lot of people in this country, assuming your talking about the US, who have lost their sense of religion and duty to be moral, decent people. I think that's very sad. I can only hope that it gets better. The perversion is sickening, and unfortunately it happens all around the world. We can only pray for all those involved.

Have you looked at the history book? Humans as a general rule have always done such things. In rome you had emporers that did little kids, and throughout history such actions have mostly been common place. It has only been in recent history that we an civilized human beings have frowned upon such actions. It wasn't unsual in some cultures to marry a young girl bearly 11 years old off to an older man to improve the wealth of her family. Young boys too were once married off in such ways. Since the industrail revolution took the world by storm we as a culture have decided that such actions were immoral and evil.

On a scientific note, mankind is programmed to go after younger individuals to mate with to produce viable (ie living smarter) offspring. Gentics will get you every time.

These factors aside it doesn't give thoes individuals and excuse to do. What seprates us from the monkies in the trees is that can look at some one too young and ignor the genetic impulse to do so because our culture says it is not right.

Just because there are SOME perverts out there who like to molest children doesn't mean that America is losing "ALL sense of Godliness and decency." The number of Americans with these perversions is a lot lower than the media makes it appear.

What does some fictional supernatural character (God) have to do with avoiding sexual contact with children? If you did not fear the wrath of some angry deity would you be "acting like a Catholic priest with a choir boy?" (note: that expression in quotation marks is only a euphemism for "having sex with children." I in no way intend to suggest that you are Catholic, only that it is frightening to think that if it weren't for belief in the supernatural all thiests would resort to such behavior. You've employed the typical diversional tactic that debaters without a leg to stand on use)

hmm..is this referring to the recent Dr. Phil show? He was saying that teachers are subjected to a background check when they are first hired, and then not at all after that. So a teacher may accumulate 75 points against him on his record in the course of a teaching career but no one would ever know about it because their records are not regularly checked.

Their sexual inclinations towards kids are wrong, yes, but pedophilia has always existed. Gain a bit of perspective about history, please.

You misunderstand my point. You can't blame people's broken brains on religion or lack thereof. There have been evil people throughout history. There are evil people who are in America and who are outside America.

Are you sure the teachers are not Christians or another religion? Why assume they are agnostics or atheists? I scanned through the story and did not see Godless any where. I think you generalizing, man!

I have no idea what is going on. I rather suspect that it has been getting caught more (and publicized more) than it is happening more.
