How do you know that they thought they were right? I suppose that you've never done anything that you knew or thought was wrong."

That's right--I dont. If something's wrong, I would never pretend to "follow" it.

"Also, keep in mind that Jesus was by far the most famous and influential "person" of all time. There is no denying that. He could also be considered the kindest and most loving person of all time. How is it possible that the kindest and most loving person of all time is hated by so many like yourself? "

Whoever said I hated Jesus? Or didn't think he was a real person? I think he lived at one point, but I don't believe he was the son of God. I also think he was a very important, loving person. Do me a favor and don't act like you know me.

And the Bible has plenty of contradictions. For example: Noah's Ark. No one can make a boat big enough, by hand, in one lifetime, to carry two of every single animal on this planet. It would be too heavy to float for one thing.

The atheists are pretty sure that evolution is real.....
see where this is headed?

Tell you what, I will provide a true comparison, all the believers in the Greek gods, have passed away, yet the believers in the Christian/Judean God, have been around for a strong 7000 years.

How do you know that they thought they were right? I suppose that you've never done anything that you knew or thoughtwas wrong.

The Bible was written over hundreds, if not of thousands years by many different authors yet the stories and events are remarkably consistent with no contradiction. If you don't believe me, find a Bible scholar that is a believer to debate a person who thinks that they can find contradiction and the Bible scholar will crush every contradiction that they find.

There were also more than 140 prophecies in the old testament about the coming Messiah and Jesus fit every single one. Now you could argue that maybe the whole Bible was written all at the same time and the prophecies were planted in there to trick people like me. But at the same time, a book tells you that Christopher Columbus came before Abraham Lincoln and you believe it with out question.

Also, keep in mind that Jesus was by far the most famous and influential "person" of all time. There is no denying that. He could also be considered the kindest and most loving person of all time. How is it possible that the kindest and most loving person of all time is hated by so many like yourself?

More: To heavy and it would sink? Come on, Navy aircraft carriers are made out of steel and they don't sink!!! Everything that I've read about that said that you could easily get at least that many animals on that boat...this was from non Christian people too...the Bible gives the dimensions of the boat, it was almost as big as a cruise ship. Also, lots of people have achieved great feats in one lifetime...Bill Gates amassed like 50 billion...impossible to build a boat? Hardly.

I'm sure there were plenty of Greeks who didn't believe in the gods. As for 'you Christians,' it's probably not a good idea to lump us all together like that. I'm a Christian, but I rarely agree with a lot of the t.v. evangelists I see these days. Too much talk about money, homosexuality, and abortion. Christianity is about faith in Christ as the son of God who is the path to get to Heaven no matter what a person has done in this life. Kind of a like a free plane ticket home. Kind of nice, I think. Am I right? Am I wrong? I suppose I'll find out on the day I die. Faith is a personal situation.

We aren't sure! That's what makes life interesting.

If we knew for absolute sure we were right, we wouldn't have any need for faith.

I believe in God and Jesus and death and the resurrection and eternal life and salvation. I also have doubts occasionally that all of this exists. I have no idea if I'm right or not. I could be headed for a very unhappy eternity if I'm wrong!

But I look at it this way: I would rather believe in something than believe in nothing. My faith gives me hope, and hope is important, because without hope, I have nothing. I don't have faith in humankind to pick ourselves up out of the gutter and get along with enlightenment, and the idea of nothingness after death frankly frightens me.

Whether my particular God is the right God or not, I'm not sure. There's a Power out there, that I *am* sure of, because I don't believe in as much coincidence as science claims can happen. I'm trusting that I've picked the right manifestation of that Power. If I haven't, well, I'm hoping it's a merciful Power. Whether it turns out it's the Greek gods or the Roman gods or the Hindu gods or Allah or the Judeo-Christian God, I think it's out there. Too many miraculous things have happened in this world--too many miraculous things exist for there not to be some greater Power out there.

So I have faith that the Power out there is my God. I could be wrong. I could be right. There's no telling for absolute certain until I keel over. And I'm okay with that, because knowing your God is there for absolute certain takes away faith, and it takes away free will. It makes you a pawn, instead of a human.

Anyway, I don't know if that made any sense, but there's my two cents. :)

There is really only one way to know whether or not you are a real Christian. It is more than just a name or a church. If you have a personal relationship with God and Jesus, you will have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you. This is not just a saying that Christians have. It is a reality. I know that spirit is there....always. I remember that it wasn't to many years ago that I didn't have its presence with me so I know the difference. I would not give that up for anything. I don't think the Greeks could have said the same thing.

the greeks held their gods sacred. But that is as far as it goes. their gods were made of stone. they did not speak, and usually had a human speak for them with ambiguous sayings. I as a christian do not believe in what most christians believe. Somehow the belief in wearing crosses protects them. Or gives them favor with God. But in reality the bible condemns such actions over and over again. I guess it is a lazy way of saying, I am a christian. I wear the cross so I do not need to read the bible.
So you ask... What makes my Holy Bible God real?
My God speaks to us thru his written word. It is not just a bunch of words saying do this and don't do that. Many of the books start by saying...During the reign of so and so in his 3 years of reigning. The bible gives chronological detail as to what was happening when a certain book was written. Also from the beginning of the human race. It states how old Adam was when he died and how long after his death Noah was born, and how long Noah lived, and then his sons. (i think Noah was born after Adams death). Anyway the bible writers were specific about what was happening during their writing of their particuallar book. All books were written by many diverse individuals over thousands of years. And yet it follows itself in great harmony. The different books of the bible that were written by different people during different times all wrote in harmony with each other. Jehovah God inspired men to write these things with their own feelings and human emotions so that we can get a grip as to what is written. But still it is divine influence that made these men to write the different books. 2 timothy 3:16-17. Many so called Christians of today teach twisted things. With conviction they convey the word of God. And that is why many people think and say the bible contradicts itself. When in reality...It does not. If you want to learn the what the bible really says with out contradictions. Go study with Jehovah's Witnesses. And then you make an educated desicion for yourself. Don't believe me that it is true, and don't believe those who say it is false. See for yourself.

Actually, I wondered about this question myself. I am a Christian myself, but I also keep my mind open to the fact that there are other people who think their religion is the right one as well. Just look at the muslims- they want to KILL their non beleivers! I am a christian because the Biblle appeals to me and teaches many good lessons, but I know what you mean by those who tell everyone they are going to hell just because they use their freedom of religion. The fact is, nobody will know for sure WHO is right untill the god from some religion comes here to prove it.

I'm no Christian. But you sound like most of the ones I don't like. And there are still followers of the Greek & Roman Gods. as well as the Egyptian ones. and on and on.
Can you find a more productive Question? The combative ones only make us Non- Christians look bad.

There are still those who worship the Greek gods and goddesses. Thoes who worship them now are call Wiccans, Pagans, and Druids. (There are more name for the religious groups but not enough time to name them all here. Sorry if I left the rest of you out.) To many of us the Greek Gods and Goddesses are still very real and as active as they were when the Greeks wore togas.
