This guy from my past called me the other day. He has called me periodically over the past 4 years to say hi. He lives in another state. We didn't have a "serious relationship" - but we had a fun dating relationship. I was really into him actually. But, he - he just wasn't ready for anything serious at the time. So, we stopped seeing each other. I just want to know why he still calls. Should I just flat out ask him? I mean he is someone I can be friends with if that is all he wants - but I do still have some feelings that I had years ago. Makes me curious of his intentions.

Ask him straight out. Tell him you want to know. Don't tell him why until you know how he feels.

It sounds like he's interested in you as a friend. If he hasn't asked you to visit or inquired as to your willingness to relocate, he's happy with things as they are. He enjoys what you have, and wants to continue this way. There may be tender feelings involved on his part on some level, but whatever his feelings are, he's unwilling to pursue you as a girlfriend. He didn't want to commit when you lived in the same area. Now there are even more barriers.

If you're looking for a long-term type of relationship, do that locally. You might even talk to him about it. If he's at all interested in a serious relationship, he'll find a way to make that known. Consider that you may want him only because you can't have him.

I would guess that he still wants to stay connected with you but does not know how to move into the commitment phase of the relationship.

And Yes, you should just flat out ask him. He may not be able to answer you right off the bat, but it may get him to think of you as a persons with feelings rather than just a play thing to toy with from time to time.

Well, i mean did he call you from the other state, or is he in town? He may feel the same way you do after all these years. Or he may just like talkin and hangin out with you. You should watch out though. If he has never been in to anything serious why does he keep calling? Dont let him use you, if you know what I mean..........

maybe he still has feelings for you too. or maybe he had such a blast back in the past with you too that he just can't get you out of his mind..hell he lives in another state, so what harm can it do to except a phone call every once in awhile?just keep it real & remember that he lives in another state..hope things go the way you want them to go...waite awhile before youn ask..see what he has to say ...then if he dosn't say anything then just ask

Sure, you're adults. This isn't junior high where you have to beat around the bush having your friends ask for you.

If you never ask, you'll never find out. If he didn't have some sort of interest in you, he wouldn't be calling.

I would ask him. He could just want to be friends. I wonder why you have not asked him yet? Are you shy? Or are you just really young?

just be straight out and ask him. does he flirt with? usally when a guy calls you back years later is when they realize what they had. you know that saying "YOU DONT REALIZE WHAT YOU HAVE UNTIL ITS GONE" well i think thats the case with your friend.

Ask him out right. He owes you an explanation.
