Why not just get a poodle?? With mixed breeds, it is very difficult to determine which breed they will have more traits from. Its just chance really. But if you want an intellegent dog, you are better off getting a purebred as their traits such as intellegence are more predictable. By the way i have met some dumb poodles and some dumb chihuahuas, and some smart of each obviously. There is variation in any breed, you are best to let a breeder know specific traits that you are looking for.

Get a chihuahua. You will not be disappointed! With a chixpoodle, there is no way to determine intelligence, personality, etc. Mixed breeds can take after either breed, or a combo of both breeds or be entirely different. A chihuahua is very smart, very loving, the ultimate lapdog, take much less grooming. I have owned them for over 30 yr and breeding them for 9 yr. I did have a 3/4 chihuahua, 1/4 poodle yr ago that was a wonderful dog, but she was just like a purebred chi in looks and character.

i may be biased but i did fine with a 8 wk old female chihuahua and was given the mother a couple of weeks later. i had never trained any animal before and within a couple of weeks they were both trained just fine. i now have a male & female 8 wk set of yorkies and in two weeks they too are peepee pad trained. so all this to say, it all depends on YOU. be consistent, and firm. my rule was that anyone going to the bathroom had to take the puppy with them. i also made it a rule to take them out before i went to bed and when i got up in the morning. just remember make it a routine everytime. there was also no need to hyperventilate. i just pretended they were babies and in need of diapers so no need to get mad at nature calls. (except puppies are quicker to "get it".)
PS: after they "get" the peepee pad, start moving the pad out to the backyard where you actually want them to go permanently.

Choose the puppy that has the best parents (nice social dogs), regardless of breed. Also, the environment should be clean/healthy ... no back yard breeders. The pups or at the very least the parents should have good veterinary record.

Chihuahua! I have two and they are both super smart dogs. As far as the house training goes-each dog is different. Alot of it depends on how well you work with it.

Whoever told you that mixed breeds aren't as smart as purebreds is just crazy! Mixes are smarter than purebreds, plus they are MUCH healthier, more resistant to illness, longer-lived, and MUCH less likely to have birth defects and behavioral problems. Go for the mixed-breed; you'll be glad you did!
