It depends on what is causing the skipped beats. Has the person been drinking a lot of caffeine? That can cause irregular heart beat. Is the person's potassium level too low? Is the person taking water pills, or have a history of congestive heart failure? Does the person have heart valve problems. Some people (myself) live with skipped beats with no problem. Some females get skipped beats during their menstrual cycle for some reason. Some people get them for no discernible reason.
If it's occuring very rarely, it's probably nothing worth worrying about, and you can mention it to the doc next time you see him. If it's happening often or on a regular basis, it's a good idea to make an appointment with the doc to have it checked out.

The obvious. Cardiac arrest would result after irregular heart beats.

It'd be fine as long as the heart kept on pumping, blood would still be circulating.. It doesn't tend to do that however, unless you have an irregular heartbeat.

It should be checked out by a cardiologist. It could just be an irregular heart rhythm, or something more serious. Have it checked.

It happens to most people, all he time. It is called arrithmia (out of rithm) and only needs correction if it becomes serious. You doctor should be able to tell you when it is serious.
