Okay I have done some things in the past I am not proud of and still feel guilty about them. I pray to God to forgive me and I am sorry for what I did. I have taken the consequences for my actions by the people I hurt. If God has forgiven me, will he still make me "pay" for my mistakes or can I know I am forgiven and move on with my life? I kind of beat myself up over this..

*Please, no stupid/ mean answers just because you feel like answering like that*

When you first are born of God, redeemed by His blood, Jesus took the punishment for you.

After that, we will sin again. But the Holy Spirit convicts in the area needing convicting in Gods understanding. We will either confess this sin & He is faithful & Just to forgive us that sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That could be painful somewhat, but He promises to make us right.

If we disobey and not repent & do the sin knowingly again, it is a knowing sin. And yes, God disciplines his children. There are conscequences of doing knowing sins. The unknowing sins are unknowned until the Holy Spirit reveals it as a sin. Then you just need to repent it & trust in Him. But even if you do it again, repent it again & trust in Him. He promises his blood covers you. But yes, there will be discipline.

Well if you truly repent what you have done, then he will forgive you. Maybe Gods way of punishing you was the consequences you suffered with those people. Or maybe Gods way of punishing you is just the feelings of guilt that overwhelm you. Don't worry about the punishment, just learn from your mistakes, and try not to make the same ones over. I'm sure God has already forgiven you, and I don't think he's one to hold a grudge. We've all done things that seem unforgivable, trust me, you're not the only one who's struggled with this. Just concentrate on bettering yourself...do something nice for someone else. Good luck, and I hope you find peace within yourself. :)

Guilt is not from God; conviction is. God is faithful and says He forgives, and that your sins are remembered no more. Sounds like the devil is using your emotions to keep you in torment. Stop! If God hasset you free, you are free indeed! Let it go, we have all done things we are ashamed of, and that's why we wont make the same choice again. God wants you to move on, God is not punishing you with feelings. To understand that even if your sorry there will still be cause and effect-God loves you- He didn't wish for you to do the bad thing, so that you would not have to go thru the consequences. But ya did, and you repented, and it's over. Let it be!

If you have asked for forgiveness, you are forgiven. Not everything that happens in your life that is bad is a punishment. Sometimes God is trying to teach you something, and sometimes God is trying to teach someone else something and the bad things also affect you.
If you have accepted Christ as your savior and truly repent for your mistakes, then any guilt you still feel is from Satan. The holy spirit causes a guilty concience, but only so far as getting you to acknowlege your mistakes and repent. But Satan can also use guilt to keep you focused on the past.
Ask God to take away your guilt about anything you have asked forgiveness for, and remember that He has forgiven you, so he has forgotten those things. They are on the ocean floor, as far from you and God as the east is from the west.
Dwelling on the past prevents you from getting closer to God.

The Bible says that he casts your sins into the deepest part of the sea never to be remembered again. So when you sincerely ask for forgiveness you are forgiven. It does you no good to keep asking for forgiveness because God has cast them away. Satan is the accuser of the brethren. He loves to make you feel guilty, that's a sign you are forgiven. So it is what it is. Don't be fooled by the Devil he is a liar. You are forgiven.

Hebrews 12:6

"For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes."

Yes you are forgiven, because He's merciful, but it's just like a parent and a child: Your parent disciplines you because they love you. God is our Heavenly Father, and when we act up sometimes, He has to punish us so we will learn. It's just because of His love for us.

But here's the thing: when God punishes us, and we get beat up a little, right after the punishment, like a parent, God reinforces His love to us, and we can feel comfort in knowing that He actually does care.

Well, dear, God doesnt work like that. When He forgives people, although He allows them to face the consequences of what they have done, He never ever does cause evil things to happen to them in return. James 1:13 reads: "When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone."

Rather, speaking about those who return to Him in true repentance and make an earnest effort to bring their lives in harmony with His principles, He states at Isaiah 1:18: “Come, now, YOU people, and let us set matters straight between us,” says Jehovah. “Though the sins of YOU people should prove to be as scarlet, they will be made white just like snow; though they should be red like crimson cloth, they will become even like wool."

So take heart, and pray for a good conscience. Then the peace of God will calm your heart. (Phillipians 4:6,7)

He does not make us "pay" for sins but lets us suffer consequences - if you have repented and turned from your sin He has forgiven you
the guilt you feel is not from Him - it could be from you or from the devil wanting you to doubt God's forgiveness - just know in your heart that you are fogiven and dont let your feelings block your walk with God

In the eyes of God Almighty all sins are small u ask him and he will forgive u.The greater sin which he will never forgive is associating partners to him , he will never forgive an unbeleiver who take Gods besides him.So, beleive in only one God and ask forgiveness to the Lord Almighty and he will forgive u and lead u directly to the Heaven and will not punish u.

I don't think the God is punishing you.

You are accepting a road of suffering, to atone for your transgressions.

Don't beat yourself up, but rather, turn your guilt into progressive action. Return more to the world then you took, and you will feel better.
