So my father wants me to go on this alkaline diet, claiming that the man that Tony Robbins is endorsing this product to really know's what he's talking about. i however think that possibly there needs to be more research on this topic before i would just go ok lets do this. i am heavy, but i am working out daily and i am eating a lot of fruits and veggies. i drink skim milk and water and i have been doing well with this. i have more energy, i wake up earlier in the mornings and i have energy throughout the day. but i want some opinions on what ya'll think about this. do you think a alkaline diet is healthy and will have lasting results? or do you think taking a whole food group out of you system is dangerous? i don't eat a lot of meat or milk products but i do think that possibly it is important to a diet.

I am not familiar with the alkaline diet, but research shows that so called "fad" diets (Atkins, Zone Diet, etc) do not work in the long run. For most of these diets, there is usually a initial weigh loss, followed by a plateau, and then in most cases a return of the weight. Most people usually quit because of the tight restrictions set by these diets.
If you're eating a normal diet within your calorie limits - you should be just fine. Be happy with what you eat but stay within your limits. Life should be enjoyed and not restricted. Cut down on foods that could cause disease later in life, like foods high in saturated fats and sodium.
