In some cases, headaches are caused by certain infections, such as:

ear infections
flu
Lyme disease
sinus infections
strep throat
urinary tract infections

But most headaches aren't signs that something more is wrong. Only 10% of headaches are caused by other medical conditions, such as infections or other serious illnesses.

I started getting migraines when I was 8 years old, and my mom took me to the doctor and the dentist. Turns out, after the dentist did an xray, that I had a tooth that never formed and there was a tumor around it. It was pressing on a nerve and giving me headaches. An occasional headache in a child is usually nothing to worry about, but sudden headaches that happen everyday need to be checked out. I ended up having surgery to remove it and everything is fine ever since. I will be keeping an eye on my now 14-month old daughter when she gets bigger if she ever develops headaches like that.

Really it will depend on what you're making use of it for. Motrin normally lasts longer than Tylenol and each have identical ache remedy results for the little one. Our pediatrician recommends "piggy-backing" Tylenol and Motrin throughout prime fevers or unhealthy ailments. Since the treatment is exceptional, however the ache remedy is the same, you'll be able to provide a dose of Motrin after which a dose of Tylenol 4 hours later etc. However, it's most important to notice that for a head damage, Motrin SHOULD NOT be used. It can reason issues with the damage. Otherwise, I rather like them each.

Not "normal"...a child doesn't usually get a headache- they USUALLY suffer from this when they need their eyes checked. (eye strain). My 6 yr. old had the same thing and I figured because of the sore throat and a sniffle..it was from a cold- I found out 2 mo. later that he has a major eye problem. I would schedule a dr. visit and an optomitrist appointment and go from there! I hope your little girl feels better soon. (It wouldn't hurt to check into allergies, also!)

It sounds like she's in the process of getting a cold. Try to give her half a dose of Tylenol and to keep her as well hydrated as possible.
