Are you a Christian? If I gave you some poison, would you drink it? Ready to put your money where your mouth is? Ready to "step out in faith?"

I know I would certainly like to see a Christian drink Drano and live to tell about it.

Of course, we should charge suitable admission for such a showing!

---Please put some sense where your mind is!

--When Jesus was urged to committ suicide by Satan what did Jesus say to him?

(Matthew 4:5-7) “5 Then the Devil took him along into the holy city, and he stationed him upon the battlement of the temple 6 and said to him: “If you are a son of God, hurl yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels a charge concerning you, and they will carry you on their hands, that you may at no time strike your foot against a stone.’” 7 Jesus said to him: “Again it is written, ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.’””

--SO IF you put some sense where your mind is & then use some reason on the matter, you might realize that this might have been a very special situation , where in which God MIGHT have intervened miraculously!
--In Bible times there were GENUINE miracles that actually occured!--NOT the phoney baloney that is practiced today!

--An example:

(Acts 28:3-6) “. . .But when Paul collected a certain bundle of sticks and laid it upon the fire, a viper came out due to the heat and fastened itself on his hand. 4 When the foreign-speaking people caught sight of the venomous creature hanging from his hand, they began saying to one another: “Surely this man is a murderer, and although he made it to safety from the sea, vindictive justice did not permit him to keep on living.” 5 However, he shook the venomous creature off into the fire and suffered no harm. 6 But they were expecting he was going to swell up with inflammation or suddenly drop dead. After they waited for a long while and beheld nothing hurtful happen to him, they changed their mind and began saying he was a god.”

--This could have been a miracle --
--OR, Paul could have had a natural immunity to the snake bite----WE DON'T know do we?

--THE REFERENCE you gave appears only once in the entire Bible!
--SO THEN why are you making such a MOCKINGLY big deal about the matter--

--DO YOU encourage such attempts at suicide to your friends also?

Mark 16:9-19, is a spurious passage, contained in only two later manuscripts of the book of Mark, suggesting that these words were an attempt by a transcriber to add to the Bible.
But, looking at the broad range of available surviving manuscripts, enables us to weed out this attempt to change God's word.
So your challenge to Christians to drink poison, falters under the dubious claim of these spurious words.
I do not know of any other attempts to add words to the Bible, than this one.

You are misinterpreting that verse.
Remember that the Bible is written in parabolic form.
The deadly poison is the deadly poison of false doctrines from the mouth of the serpent which is Satan.
Notice that this verse also says "they will pick up serpents" also indicating that they will be able to handle Satan and his demonic forces without getting hurt. The verse also says "they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover".
This is referring to those who are spiritually sick. The believers will bring the gospel and will heal the spiritually sick.
Remember that Jesus said:
Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Actually what it means is that if your willing to do a sacrifice for something or to save another it will allow you to save them and it will save yourself for not being selfish for example if your blessed and your praying for someone in need it wont matter what evil is going through them it will not harm you for you are trying to help them from the kindness of your heart therefor i will take the poison

Dr. Percy Collet was a missionary working in some very remote jungles. As a missionary, he tells of the time that he was fed a poisonous mixture to eat. After eating it, he did not get sick, but remained very alert and healthy.

The natives, seeing how he lived through their attempt to kill him, were willing to listen to him as he ministered the Gospel to them.

In the context of the scripture you referenced, it state to Go to the world and preach and in doing so, no poison will harm you.

If you are willing to travel with me to some remote jungle, then .....

That saying is not a timeless and eternal truth. That's why Jesus appointed an authority to interpret Scripture for us. That happens to be the Catholic Church.

All of this wrangling of how to interpret Scripture gets one nowhere if there is no way to know with infallible certitude that one's interpretation is the right one. The teaching authority of the Catholic Church is infallible because it comes directly from Christ.

"And so I tell all of you; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven". - Matthew 18,18

Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; and whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me." - Luke 10,16

Peace and every blessing!

Jesus told the serpent, "It is written, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.".

To let you know, yrs ago, I was going to take medicine. The Holy Spirit took over & prevented me from taking it. So I tossed that pill & another questionable pill away, and asked if this 3rd pill was OK. God gave me the OK in my spirit to take this next pill in the bottle. That night I had loud heart buzzing & beating, etc. I prayed to God, thanks for healing me. So. I didn't take anymore of that medicine. The first one would have hurt me more if I had disobeyed & took it when God told me not to.

Your questions is one of the ways the serpent tempted Jesus in the wilderness.

If we are in His Spirit, preaching the Gospel, & eat any deadly thing, it will not harm us. But if God warns us to not eat something, it would be a sin to eat it.

So, when looking in the fridge, when in doubt toss it out.

it is not to be taken literally. It is really symbology for a different precept. When you see such things you should know to dig a little deeper. Unless it fits your agenda not to.

Why would I want to purposely drink poison to test God? Scripture says, "You shall not put your Lord God to the test."
