Which is the best to drink?
Where do you get it?

I looked for 'Distilled Water' in two supermarkets and could not find it under that name.

"Distilled" means salts and solids have been removed, (like a still, water is turned to steam, the steam is then cooled By a "COIL" to a separate tank to condensate back into water, this does NOT remove toxins.

"Tap water" is whats delivered to your house, usually by a water co, or dept, and is municipally pure (usually meets federal and state regs). Some places have well water with no treatment (Chlorine, buffers, fluoride, etc).

"Filtered water" my be a simple carbon filter, or an "Ion -exchange filter" (BEST TYPE, PUREST WATER), or many other types.

"Spring water"- most dangerous, water source is "UNKNOWN", many springs dry up after a nearby sewer line has been repaired, point source of water quality can change (underground oil tank may start leaking, and percolate into the spring, without warning).

Tap water is best if municaply supplied because, it must be tested 24/7, and by outside agencies (state, etc.) that make unannounced visits to the wells for collection of samples to be tested in the lab (E-coli, etc), they are NOT self governing.

Bottled water only has to be tested one time, then they can sell as much as they want, don't forget, they found "Benzine" in "Perrie".

The cheapest most effective water filter is a tap type screw on for the kitchen sink, try and get the "De-ionazation" filter by "Culligan", it's $6 and cartridge replacement is $6, it's "DE-IONIZED WATER", the purest water on Earth, it's "LAB" quality, and tastes best when refridgerated.

DISTILLED
Pure H2O. It's made by the chemical process of distillation and best used in chemical reactions. Available at some markets.

SPRING
Extracted from an aquifer. "Natural" minerals. Available at some markets and all health food stores.

FILTERED
The odors are removed. You can make this at home, using filters.

TAP
It comes out of the faucet. Depending on where you live, it may have an odd odor, color and/or taste. It has minerals and additives, such as flouride.

I prefer filtered or spring water.

Check http://www.EPA.gov for the safe drinking water standards.

from underground water that seeps into the ground. It can come out as a spring.Filtered is just tap water that is strained by whatever filters .Tap is what you get from the faucet.

Regardless of what is rumored to be "best" have your tap water tested by a company such as Culligan. I had well water and Hinckley-Schmidt bottled water and Culligan tested both and found that my well water had less polutants than my bottled water. So I opted for a reverse-osmosis system and had even cleaner and better water. p.s. doctors recommend distilled water for babies. I think it is boiled/heated/purified.
