I have dry scalp. But its not like little flakes. Its all around my hair line. Its big thick flakes. Its like a solid layer of flakes all the way around my hair line. Does anyone have any ideas on how to treat this? Or a website with good information? Any suggestions would be appericate.

I have long thick healthy hair... I use salon shampoo and conditioner. Regular dandruff shampoo doesn't accomplish anything.

This is a SIMPLE, NATURAL safe cure that really works. I had the same problem and flaking of facial skin also and discovered that I was allergic to harsh ingredients in many shampoos and particularly anti dandruff ones which contain very harsh chemicals - but also most soaps, face cleaners. Also read the labels of any conditioners you use. Many also contain harmful ingredients. By just stopping using them my scalp and face started to heal. I used only a mild tea tree oil shampoo or selenium based shampoo - acts as an anti-fungal agent - with a few drops of tea tree oil added (tea tree oil is expensive) and wash LESS FREQUENTLY. Shampoo companies love you to believe frequent washing is desirable but it de-natures hair and scalp, removes essential natural oils, causes thinning, even premature graying.and hair loss. Do a Google search -¨"Daily hair washing harmful?"You will find much confirmation of that.To help restore scalp & hair to health, frequently brush 25 to 35 strokes(each day is best) quite vigorously, so you feel it stimulating scalp - will unplug hair shaft ducts, end flaking, reverse other damage. Also massage scalp with vitamin E oil, coconut oil or flaxseed oil before or after brushing, or nightly, and wash off in the morning. Treatment will revitalize & give hair a healthy sheen. After flaking has gone keep up a regular brushing routine(not as vigorously) and hair and scalp will stay healthy and hair will be strong, thicker and fast growing. Also be aware that hair dryers, perms, tints, bleaches, straighteners, tanning booths or sunlamps harm scalp and hair.

I suffer from the exact same problems, and the solutions are to get the "Head and Shoulders Intense Solutions" shampoo which should work very well, but the effects only last about 10-20 hours, or the more extreme but effective solution to shave your head completely and rub it with special lotions, I found E-Oil works the best. Now the best thing about this is the amazingly great feeling having a shaved head is, it's both rejuvinating and helps heal your scalp from damage it may itch the first week or so but the cool feeling of the air is really nice and your scalp will get to breath and get sunshine and your hair will grom back much thicker and healthier. Afterwards your scalp should be fine for 1-3 years. Hope I helped.

No but it will make your hair nice and silky. Try a dandruff shampoo. I have the same problem. The winter air is drying out my skin and my scalp is so itchy! I have been using head&sholders for three days now and its great! Try it, and try the hot oil because hot oil is awesome, just not for itch. Good luck and take care!

If I were you I would go to your local health food store and try something natural. http://www.naturallydirect.net/natural-shampoo.htm I've had this problem before and I believe that there are chemicals that are irritating your scalp. Get a shampoo w/ tea tree oil in it. Good Luck!

Have you tried leave-in conditioners?

Since it's around your hairline it might be caused by your facial care products or your make up.
