Well, they're low in calories but VERY high in sodium, so they make you retain water and could elevate your blood pressure.

"Pickles and cucumbers consist mainly of water with just a small amount of calcium, a trace of iron, a few calories and no protein."

This is why they're not considered a vegetable choice on the school lunch program.

Pickles don't really have any nutritional value. Depends on what kind you're eating too. If you like the "Sweet" ones they're soaking in corn syrup. Even the "vinegar" pickles don't have much in the way of nutrition. They're great for adding something to a sandwich though! On 'em or next to 'em!

A pickle is a cucumber that's been left to soak in vinegar and spice. For the most part, it's as healthy as a cucumber. You do have to watch how many you eat because too much vinegar can upset your stomach.

Pickles are healthy depending on what diet you are on. They are cucumbers, in vinegar, so nothing too bad there. They only have about 5-10 calories per pickle. However, they are very high in sodium, which can affect blood pressure. If you already have high blood pressure, I would ask your doctor first.

Pickles have no nutritional value. Just full of sodium and a good low carb snack. Like instead of chips for that crunchy craving, cut up some pickles. mo.

Pickles aren't the worst thing you can eat but they are VERY high in sodium which can give you high blood pressure. If you're eating a lot of them make sure you're also getting lots of water to counter the sodium.

essentially, pickles are cucumbers without the sugars and carbs. i think they are soaked in salt and vinegar and the natural bacteria in the jar changes the sugar in the cucumber to acid. the calories you see in pickles are from extra sugars added for flavor.

Cucumbers are probably pretty healthy, but when they soak them in salt water and spices to make pickles, they probably aren't anymore.
