No. It should not be painful. There is no point of a happy or joyful life to be obtained through pain. And, just because you are doing something painful in order to achieve success, doesn't mean at all that you are a success. Just crippled.
There are plenty of diets that will produce results where you will also look good and feel good too. Where you can enjoy the food and still like yourself, still be kind and considerate of yourself.
The real questions are: Where does the need to be punitive and mean towards yourself come from? How might it be holding you back from reaching your goals, weight loss-wise or in any other area of your life???

Dieting should never be a painful experience. Rather than dieting you should be making overall lifestyle changes such as eating fruits and vegetables everyday for example. Fruits and vegetables have a ton of fiber in them, and they are low on calories while high in vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants. That means you can eat a lot of them, and the fiber from them will make you feel full so you will be satisfied. You don't have to eat them plain or with no flavor either. Try putting cut up apples in a salad or making a milkshake with strawberries and blueberries. Put shredded carrots in your biscuits.
There are many things you can do to jazz up your diet without it being painful while still losing weight. You can even have sugar as well but eat it in moderation. Try not to consume too much high fructose syrup.
As long as you eat a well balanced diet, get sufficient sleep, and exercise you should notice good effects. Be patient because results are never instantaneous, but they are long lasting if you approach it correctly.

No. Make a lifestyle change and don't eat crap foods full of processed junk and sugar. With that and a -500 calorie restriction, along with 30-60 min aerobic/anaerobic exercise, you'll lose weight in no time.

In the search bar: cinchplan.com
The people I know that use it say they feel more energetic and claim they lose the fat and not the muscle.

Dieting is as painful and effective as one wants it to be. You have choices. Choose satisfying meals that are healthy. You don't have to feel pain to do the right thing. thats wasting your time.
