Your vet dismiss too easily and should have listened to you.

Go to another vet and ask if they thing it may be Discoid Lupus Erythematosus(DLE) or PEMPHIGUS ERYTHEMATOSUS (PE) , what you are describing can very well be one of these condition unless treated(lifelong there is no cure) severe scarring will occur and it could spread to other parts of the body and you dog could become very ill as a result, these are autoimune diseases, it starts with blisters rarely noticable that ulcerate and harden, it will go away for a while and then come back even worse but each time the scarring becomes worse, sunlight can have an efffect on, my own dog gets flare ups of the disease thru the winter months(I am not sure if partly due the reflection of the UV light off the snow) she also has other areas that is affected her vulva and the side of her coat can look at time moth eaten during flare up periods, the disease is about management and trying to slow the progress, the sooner treatment is started the better

This site give details on various auto immune diseases, and also has a photographic diary of her dog and her littermate that both have auto immune diseases it is written in 2 languages click on the english flags to view the diary

Take him to another vet who might prescribe something that can be put on his nose to ease it. and actually tell this vet that he doesnt dig in geneal, just scratches his nose on the ground - sounds like he is itchy.

DONT use human mosturisers. A little unscented vaseline may help, but he will probably rub or lick of off right away.

Do you feed/water him from anything that's plastic? If so, it might be an allergic reaction to the plastic, try switching to ceramic or metal. What you're describing sounds similar to something my dog developed on her nose and lip after years of using plastic. We switched to a metal bowl and it cleared right up.

awww, poor little fella. I think i'd give vasoline a shot, maybe some of the medicated stuff or the kind you can purchase for babies.

or chapstick... i mean, if its chapped it will surely work, but i'd take a wet cloth and clean it often and treat it often

Could be allergies...

Get a second opinion from another vet.
