I don't think we all have to agree on it. That feeling of "I have to be right about God" is the emotion that has led to countless murders in the name of God. Kind of sucks when religion is the catalyst for evil. I am more than happy to agree to disagree, knowing that God loves us all.

a) I see their point. At the time the canon was set (300something AD) The reformation had not yet occurred or even the Orthodox schism. so the whole church was catholic (universal). The representative bishops met at Nicea and the Roman church was only one voice among the others. We do recognize the wisdom of that group but not the authority of the Roman catholic church-let it be said that on some of the most important things devout catholics and evangelical christians agree 2)the apocrypha are included in a lot of Bibles-they just aren't accepted as holy scripture. Read it and see if you don't agree

The bible is a guide for us to follow when we feel lost. But is not etched in stone. It is a guide for us to follow when we don't feel right or upset. It keeps us straight and feeling good, nothing says we have to do this or that we just have to be good people and hope we give the same to others. If we can keep everthing positive it stays positive so try it you may like it. Take care Heather

A two parter.
A- Nice. The reality is that the greek and hebrew complied. The hebrew priests compiled the Tanakh, from which the old testament is derived.
B- Greek Septuagint is the source of the Apocrypha.
Canon law, old testament.

I would answer the first:
a) So you admit to claiming your Holy See is the Rock, therefore, you make claims that the Pope is the spiritual founder of Christ and that in this idea, you compiled, and inspired the words of the Bible. Not the supernatural God of Heaven.
(there is no evidence to even suppose Peter ordained Linus as the next chieftain, or that he even knew him, let alone that all authority over matters of god belonged to Peter, let alone to anyone that claimed his 'mantle' of authority. The biblical evidence is quite to the contrary. Peter [the pebble] was told by Jesus, 'On this Rock [referring to the speaker (Jesus)] the church will be built' furthermore...' and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it' (a reference to his coming death))
{ "And I say to thee. thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18}
{"And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." I Corinthians 10:4}
The second:
b)These books came after the Apostles. Written by men Jesus had no contact with in physical form. The book of Revelation is ended with the very clause you are using to make your point. You're adding to, while claiming we are subtracting. Both are subject to the same punishment.
{Rev. 22:18 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book." }

believe it or not, not many Christians even KNOW of the Apocryphal books. They werent just thrown out either. they were just put into another book because someone believed it wasnt just about God. it is unfortunate that a lot of people dont know about them.
i am lutheran (almost protestant) and my reaction is that catholics are who they are and if they want to think theyre better than they can cause i know only God is better!

Interestingly enough, I have never come across a catholic who knew enough about his own religion to ask such questions!
But I can take THEIR bible and prove to them that their religion is one messed up doctrine of one error after another.
Its simple,the catholics do not subscribe to the doctrine of the Bible, they submit to the teaching of their "church" (I dont believe it is a Church at all, its a religious organization)

a) I will ask them, Which priests who accepted ALL the current tenets of Roman Catholicism compiled the Bible?
b) I will ask them, Why do you ASSUME that the apocrypha was part of the Bible in the first place?

no matter what ; the gospel is there and anyone can find it if they are looking. You could probably take out a lot of the bible and still find plenty of gospel news. enough to come to the Lord.

Catholics say all of that? I doubt it. Do you really know any? Only their priests compiled. What drivel.
