Maybe his parents said something about you to him. Something that stopped him from going further. I don't agree with this new, supposedly hip trend, of Friends with Benefits.
This is just a game that can cause serious problems for many teens. No commitment, untrue, for many girls get attached to the guy, or jealous if the guy sees another girl.
Their are alot of diseases out there, and this casual, and irresponsible behavior is dangerous. What if a girl gets accidentally pregnant? Who is going to take the responsibility? Why is there no self-control today with teens? Sex was made for two mature adults, who are married. Thus the two together can be responsible for anything that happens, like a pregnancy.
Try to think twice about this, and wait. My girls, and boys are going to be taught that this is wrong. What do your parents think of this idea, of casual sex?
Go talk to the guy, and find out what is up, only he can tell you the truth.

Sometimes family interactions are difficult to decipher, and it could be that this not too good BF of yours didn't like your mom.
Or, possibly, his dad didn't like you and is advising his son to stay away from you. Ask your BF about this. You might get an honest answer.
I have often been disappointed by family members of GF and friends.
Maybe he got cold feet. It doesn't sound like he's offering you much anyway ("friends with benefits" can very rapidly turn into "boy do I feel used and exploited.")

That is the problem with "hooking up". Everyone says that feelings aren't involved...that it is only sex.

However if that was the case, you would have no problems with it and would be looking elsewhere to satisfy what is claimed to be only a physical need.

Might it be possible that you need to re-evaluate this whole "friendship with benefits" thing? In my humble 38 years experience, it never works out well for anyone involved.

Ask him.... I could tell you what i think but it will only be an opinion. You will not know unless he tells you. So don't stress! Ask him why he don't wanna hang out no more....
