This is a compressed file or group of files...
You normally need an application like Winzip to unzip it and access the files

A zip file is a compressed file called an "archive". It's basically a way to compress a group of files that are large to make them smaller. You can unzip a file using a utility like WinZip. If you have XP i think it comes with it. You can download some utilities for free or download a trial.

Hi Bunnie,

The file has been packed (compressed) to reduce its size.

You will need an unzipping program to extract it. WinZip is the most popular zip / unzip program.

You can go here to learn more about Winzip - http://www.winzip.com/ovwc17/winzip.htm

it means that file has been compressed to make it easier to send or transfer, to use that file you need to unzip it with certain programs like Winzip, but a lot of people prefer to use WinRar because it can access a wider range of files.

ur file has been compresed, so it won't be that heavy for the PC, do it to those folder that u don't open but that u need anyway, like folders with old songs or pictures that u don't want to delete but you don't even remeber they're there, or movies, o whatever files u have and think they're to big. it's easy to zip them and easy to open them, besides ur computer will be faster
