Water fasting can be dangerous! You really need to do your homework before trying it.
Why don't you try a juice fast first? It will be much easier on your system and will have the same benefits as a water fast but without the inherent dangers.
Always listen to your body. Permanant weight loss is not something that you can rush. Neither is cleansing. They're best done progressively.

Why must one be a Christian to answer this question?
Water fast.... how do you water fast... well, you drink water and not eat....easy enough... and when do you start.. well, you can start drinking water and stop eating...well, anytime. But a fast should be for cleansing your body, not to loose weight.. With this as your primary goal, you will set yourself up to fail. Fasting is so much bigger than "losing" weight.
