Vitamin C has been used in dosages over 100,000 mg for serious illness — over 1000 times the daily recommended intake — without ill effects. However, Vitamin C does have a pronounced laxative effect, typically when intake of vitamin C is in the range of 5-20 grams per day for a person in normal "good health".[
Death by vitamin poisoning appears to be quite rare in the US, typically none in a given year. However before 1998, several deaths per year were typically associated with pharmaceutical iron-containing supplements, especially brightly-colored, sugar-coated, high-potency iron supplements, and most deaths were children.[

I don't have a scientific answer to this but I can say for sure that too much vitamin C consumed in food over a period of a few weeks (especially tomatoes) eventually gives me a canker sore.
Other people are correct that you can't OD on vitamin C and you'll just pee it out. However, the high level of acidity in most vitamin C may affect certain people more than others. I hear there is a non-acid kind of vitamin C made out of ascorbate rather than ascorbic acid if you are sensitive to high acid levels.

Vitamin C is a water soluable vitamin, your body will only use what it needs then pass the rest out in urine.
Some researcher belief that Mega Dosing on Vitamin C can be harmful, but if you stay with in the recommended daily allowance then you should be fine

Nope. If you take in any extra Vitamin C that your body does not need, you'll simply flush it out in your urine. Of course, be careful in the manner of vitamin C you are taking. Some supplements clearly instruct to only have so much a day. However, drinking say... a whole bunch of orange juice won't do you any harm. :)

You can safely take 2000mg of vitamin C a day, but I would not take any more than that unless a doctor tells you to.

Excessive anything is bad for you. Your body can only assimilate so much of it anyway. The rest comes out in your urine.

Vitamin C is water soluble, which means if you take too much you'll probably just pee it right out.
