I did it as a teen and then sat in the sun for a short time. I ended up with lightened hair, that had a red hue.

Lemon Juice Can Lighten Hair A Bit. But, If Your Hair Is "Light Brown" Or Darker It May Turn "Orange" Or "Red" .Using Lemon Juice(Or ANY "Home Remedy") To Lighten Hair Is Risky- Most Of The "Recipes" Are Old Wife's Tales Or "Urban Legends" And CAN Damage Your Hair (Lemon Juice Contains Some Strong Acids) And SOMETIMES They Do Work (To A Degree) But, Leave Your Hair Dry And Damaged. And Often Leave Your Hair A Funky Color That Is Hard To Fix. Stick To The "Drugstore" And Beauty Supply Stuff.

You'd have to put it in your hair and then either dry it with a hair dryer or sit in the sun for like 4 hours. I suggest Sun-In because it does pretty much the same thing but I think it's a bit stronger. Nevertheless, it will take a week or two of doing this before you even see the slightest difference and it will most likely add reddish highlights, too. If you really want to dye your hair blonde, go to a salon. You have little control over how the actual color is going to come out using the Sun-In or lemon-juice methods and it takes forever. At-home kits are risky business when it comes to going lighter. You can really wind up ruining your hair for nothing.

Lemon juice doesn't turn a person's hair blonde unless that person has blonde hair. All lemon juice does is lighten a person's hair a little, not turn it blonde. (i.e. if a person with medium brown hair used it their hair would just look like a lighter brown) The darker a person's hair is though the less effect it has. I have naturally black and and lemon juice did nothing on it. No color change at all.

It is not a quick process. It lightens your hair but you have to sit in the sun for hours i believe - it can be over a period of days. If you have blond hair, and want to add lighter highlights, it looks bad sometimes-yellowish i guess. Products like Sun-In might work depending on your hair. Lemon juice and the sun together can really damage your hair. Condition thouroghly afterwards. Brown hair will get lighter highlights and will look nicest.

Lemon juice turns your hair a few shades lighter if you apply it to your hair then sit in the sun for about an hour.
