Well lets say Billy is 15 and hes a honor roll student at his highschool and a superstar soccer player. He has his first run in with the law for lets say stealing and it turns out on his Juvenile record. Would that ruin his whole life? Would that mean no college would accept him/ no scholarships/ no life what so ever?

A theft conviction on a juvenile record will have no affect on his college career. However, if Billy applies for a job in law enforcement, the Police background investigator can and will check his criminal history, including his juvenile record. A juvenile record is not sealed when it comes to a law enforcement background investigation, FBI clearance, or Secret Service clearance. Sorry Billy, more than Likely, no Police job.

Since it is a juvenile record, it is sealed, which means if Billy keeps his nose clean he should enter adulthood with a clean record. Remember, that once you have a record; should Billy continue in old ways he can eventually be tried as an adult which would open that record as if Billy were an adult. If Billy learned his lesson; he should be good to go for a great life.

Billy, should most importantly learn from this incident. If not, he is bound to repeat the same mistake. However, something like stealing will not be on your permanent record. Billy will still be able to get a job in lasw enforcement as well as go to college. Good luck, stay out of trouble!

Juvenile records are sealed once he reaches the age of adulthood, which is usually 18. No, it will not haunt him.
