What do you really want from your religion/ belief system?

(Please don't pull the wool over your eyes and tell us you are just an innocent lamb.)

Regardless of religion or non religion, we all have some belief system.

Ergo, everyone is invited to answer this question.

I want a religion that gives me a way to deal with the hurts of the past -- both those that I've caused to someone else and the ones that have happened to me. I also want a way to live in peace and joy, no matter how chaotic the present world conditions are. And I want a religion that gives me hope for the future, both in this life and the next.

I found all of those things when I converted to Roman Catholicism. Being able to talk to another person during Confession about the things I'd done wrong was very therapeutic, as well as cleansing. I find great joy and peace in each Mass that I attend, and every time that I participate in the Eucharist, I feel Christ's Presence in a way that I've never known anywhere else.

And whenever a loved one dies or something tragic happens in the world, I can say with St. Paul, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. " (Romans 8:18)

My religion gives me freedom from the past, happiness in the present, and something to look forward to in the future. I couldn't ask for anything more.

I already have everything I want from my belief system, I have a few things I'd like to do before I die. But mostly I'm content to join my ansestors. I plan to try to hang around and watch my decendents and be a genral pain in theyr asses.

The question is moot, all belief systems are doomed to utter failure upon the death of the believer. I think the wool/lamb connection is kinda cute though.

My beliefs say that all creatures are important and should be respected. I want the useless harming/killing of animals to stop.

Sorry, I just watched a PBS show about people slicing shark's fins off and dumping the animal back in the water to bleed to death, and it upset me. A lot.

*Why are you giving me thumbs down people?! I'm answering the question....you can't be so heartless as to support that kind of abuse toward a living being, can you?

Eternal life with Jesus and with my family. Very interested to see what an eternal body will look like, what heaven looks like, to finally understand everything I can't here and now.

Someone who can really help that I can turn to any time, any day.

I want nothing, because I believe there is nothing, other than life, as we know it. I would ask religions to leave me alone,,stay off my porch,, and get a real job, instead of preying on the fears of insecure people.
