The prelude is played before the bridal party's entrance. The processional is played when the bridal party enters and the recessional is played when the bridal couple walks back down the aisle after the wedding. Okay, for my wedding, I have prelude music being played by a friend for 20 minutes prior to the wedding, and while the candles are being lit in the beginning. I then have a processional song which my bridesmaids, the flower girl, and the ring bearer walk down to, and then I have a "bridal march" (not sure what it is actually called; it's certainly not a march) that is a song the band plays which I will be walking down to. The recessional is upbeat music played at the very end of the ceremony. The bridal party leaves the stage, then everyone else leaves.

Prelude - music as people are entering the church and being seated Processional - music for the attendants to walk down the aisle, then the same song or a different one for the bride's entrance (we used the same song at our wedding) Interlude - music if you want for the signing of the register, or at another point during the ceremony Recessional - music to play as you are leaving the church Postlude - music you can play as the guests are leaving the church. For our wedding, we just had a processional hymn, and a recessional song. It was a traditional Ukrainian wedding ceremony, so there was singing done by the priests and the guests throughout the ceremony - so that made it different than the "usual".

RE:
In a wedding what is the prelude music, processional music, and recessional music? When are each played?

Prelude: music played before the ceremony while guests are arriving and being seated. It can be music played on a piano or from a CD.

Processional: music played while the mothers, groomsmen, bridesmaids and flower girl and ring bearer are walking in.

Recessional: Song at the end of the ceremony, starts as the bride and groom start to leave and continues to play as the flower girl and ring bearer, bridesmaids, groomsmen and mothers are leaving.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Prelude is usually played while the extended family, such as the parents of the bride and groom are seated. The processional is the "Here Comes the Bride" (or hopefully something a little more interesting) part and the recessional plays after the ceremony as you are leaving.

Prelude is when people are coming into the church. Processional is when the bridal party and bride walk down the aisle. Recessional is upon leaving the church.
