Every person must answer this question for themselves. I will share with you what my answer is...
Every challenge you face can be overcame, with strength, patience, and wisdom from God. Ask Him to help you and you will pick your way (allbeit slowly sometimes) through to the end. And when you reach the end and look back at what you've been able to accomplish, you will be a stronger person. The next challenge you face will be a bit tougher, but that is how we learn and grow in this world. Bit by bit, you will tally up challenge after challenge. One day you will look in the mirror and think about how hard you thought the first few challenges were, yet laugh at how trivial they had become compared to what you have built up to.
A sister at church had a different point of view, and I will share this with you as well. She says we face so many challenges because our soul is so special that Satan will do, try, or say ANYTHING to gain control over it. But keep in mind, Satan only has control when we ALLOW him access. When you ask the Lord to fill you with strength and peace, there is no room for Satan to wiggle his way in. This can give you the distance you need to not take challenges as personally. You can say "This is what's happening, and this is what I need to get through it" rather than "Why is God doing/allowing this to happen to me, His child?".
I hope this helps to give you some encouragement. Just remember, without the bitter, you will never appreciate the sweet.
Blessings

As a Catholic,I am only sure of two things,There is a God,and hes not me.Realize that God is with you when your good, and when your bad,he wont interfere(this is free will)He leaves you the choice, and you can only be what your actions dictate.
An example of this in my life is,I'm an Addict,I did speed for about 20 years,I was very good at what I did,I took care of my ill mother,my alcoholic brother, with the bills etc.I got raises at my job(I'm a Truck driver) and even made employee of the month a few times,I chose to fail a test after hearing a guy who had been hounding me on my use on the interstate for awhile. He new I was dirty, but I was as good as an addict can be(call it hazardly responsible if you will)One day he was griping to another driver saying he ought to call my boss and turn me in,I jumped in on the C.B. and told him do what he felt was right, those words I spoke began to haunt me,and two weeks klater I allowed myself to get caught in a drug screen(that I could have easily beaten as I had many times before) so you see,you can change things,God is always there with you,its the choices you make that make you what and who you are

Bad things happen to everyone, good things too.
In any situation you must hang in there and hope a better day will come. If there is anything you can do to stop something bad that is happening to you then you must. If you are too afraid then reach out and ask someone who is able to assist you.

It's called FAITH. We, meaning all Christian, Jew, Muslim, etc..people period; live in a world full of sin and tragedy. Something terrible is bound to happen in one way or another. But the difference that keeps you afloat and having power and authority over your situation is...Faith in God and Belief that the situation WILL CHANGE for the better!

Bad things are not BAD per se, unless you brought them on yourself consciously with ill intent. Everything else is just part of the larger plan to help you grow as a human being, spiritually. You will look back in 5 years and most likely bless the situation you are going through now as the biggest courage building, character stregthening experience ever...

Many of God's greatest blessings are hidden by the wrapping paper of difficulties.
Our challenge as Christians is not to dictate to God what blessings we want, as if we were at a drive-up window.
We need to thank Him for everything in our lives. He does not promise us an easy life, but He promises to turn our heartaches and difficulties to blessings IF we give glory to Him in all things.

Easy - Just stop and think. Didn't bad things happen to Jesus?
However,
you have a right to be happy, as Jesus said He came to make life more abundant.
You have a right to protect yourself. When others cause your bad things, you have a right to try to remove them from your life. Sometimes this happens when we are older. We decide to stop associating with people who are toxic, or "bad" for us.
When others hurt us, we tend to look the other way - until a certain point. They we need to walk away - or perhaps run away to a safe environment.
GOD gives us brains - and we are expected to use them. Sometimes we use are brains by finding safe people to talk to and who are good for us.
Stuff happens - to each and every one of us. This is regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, disability, or ability.
GOD bless us always.
