My 7 year old son has always done this.
Not too sure if they are imaginary friends or not.
I once took him to see a psychic, and they said he has got 2 guardian angels looking over him, so this may be the truth!
All i know is that he is perfectly happy, so i dont really mind!

Check the history of the house to see if someone passed away there. It could be a ghost or something or it just might be an imaginaery friend. The house that we live in now has a ghost of some sort coz my daughter talks to a little girl. As long as she's not scared then don't worry about it

At 4 you have no control over your life, your granddaughter has gone through a big upheaval. 'Benny' is her way of having company so she doesn't feel lonely. It shows she has a great imagination. I had an imaginary rabbit when I was little!
If you'd like to comfort her, buy her a tiny stuffed toy to carry around. And let her talk about how she feels, especially about the move and everything being new.

Could be an imaginary friend or if you are superstitious or anything like that, could be a spirit. I had a little cousing who used to talk to someone at my aunts house. Then as he got older and older, the "Man In The Hat" disappeared, but then my aunt saw him finally and he really was a man in the hat. But could still be an imaginary friend! I wouldnt worry too much about it unless she says something about "Benny" hurting her or people, then I would look more into it. Goodluck

Sure maybe she has an imaginary friend since she is in a new place it may be a way she is helping herself to cope with the change and thats not bad at all unless it goes on too long ofcourse . But it is great if the child can develop copign skills early and at her age an imaginary friend is perfectly normal

As a parent you should not ask about your child's imaginary friend if he does not mention it to you. If your child does tell you about his imaginary friend, you should be supportive of it. Do not include his imaginary friend in activities unless your child says to. Also remember that if your child asks you to play with him and his imaginary friend, you should play, but let your child direct the way of playing. However, you should not allow your child to blame his imaginary friend for the things your child does himself. For example if he has not put away his toys and blames his imaginary friend for that; you should try to put a stop to it. Until about the age of five, the line between fantasy and reality is not clear and some children still have imaginary friends at the age of 10. Most of all as a parent you should not encourage imaginary friends, but should accept them.
Imaginary friends are something that many children have. The idea of having imaginary friends is part of a child's healthy development. Your child has a very vivid imagination and he enjoys playing with imaginary people. Thus, you should allow him to play with his imaginary friends and help him through one of the many phases he will go through as a child.

My little girl had a friend called Stu who lived in the tumble dryer when she was 3..Nothing to worry about just shows she has an active imagination..Maybe the house move unsettled her a little and it's her way of dealing with it.

I wouldn't worry. It is probably due to the house move and she may be feeling unsettled. My sister had an imaginary friend called Midge at about the same age when we moved house

CALL ME CRAZY.Children are in a transition period till about 5.Kind of an open sole still very much connected to the spirit world.(keep in mine i am christian)My 2 year old tells me about my great grandmas mother all the time.I have never see a picture of the women.but if you ask my grandma everything she says is true.Try talking to her about him.He can not and will not harm her but for some reason he is unrested, normally if you tell them to GO HOME over a period of time they will. I know it seems strange but tell your granddaughter er tell him to go home GOD IS Waiting.
I have seen it first hand but like I said call me crazy.

It's possible she developed an imaginary friend to cope with the change of residence. It's normal for kids to have imaginary friends as long as they aren't hurting themselves or anyone else.
