Your state/city may have ordinances banning gambling, like some do with porn....but most generally it's legal everywhere. But as far as the legal age, It will tell you in it's terms of use when you read it. PokerStars.net is ONLY free play-for-fun, the .com version is the gambling site...but you can also play for free there too.

No, you can't get into trouble really, you have to have a bank account on file in order to receive any winnings, and thus to play for real money. Unless a minor stole someone's bank info or someone's PokerStars account info, they can't play for real money. Same with any poker site, Empire, Full Tilt, Noble...etc.

Well see, America does not own the planet. In other countries you are a legal adult at 18, and so casinos and card rooms based in other countries use regulations based on their country not on ours.

America has banned American companies from running certain online gambling sites. This law does not apply to foreign companies operating outside of American jurisdiction.

So far no one has ever been arrested for playing poker online.

Sadly, this kind of thing will continue until America gets real about online gaming and decides to regulate it as opposed to trying to pressure these legitimate companies to stop allowing Americans to do business with them.

And real money games were not outlawed in the recent gambling act. See link for details.

UIAG did NOT make internet gambling illegal. It made banks responsible for not allowing transfers to illegal gambling.

Internet Gambling is illegal in 11 states ... Washington State the strictest on it. If you are not in one of these 11 states, you are doing nothing wrong.
