Is this current anti immigrant attitude just a repeat of nativism like that of the 1820's and 1830's against Irish immigrants. You can't say it was them same. You can't say "oh my ancestors came here legally" You're ancestors probably came here and had to work to pay the passage off. Well guess what? That's not available anymore. Plus back then they accepted low skilled workers, not anymore. Yes it is anti immigrant behavior, you just know that there are laws protecting legal immigrants, so you don't go after them. Soon there will be laws barring American companies from exploiting workers in third world countries, then there won't be any need for them to come here just to be hated by a bunch of "patriots" who won't even vote or go to war themselves.

Tiredofaliens: You obviously you can't read or you would have known I am talking about the Irish who came over in the 1800's (about 3 million) not the ones who cam over through Ellis island in the 1920's.

the dillingham flaw is exactly what these people are exhibiting. I was talking about how they compare immigrants now to their ancestors that were immigrants. Maybe if you took the time to read you would have seen that.

Lots of things aren't available now that were then. When my latest immigrant ancestors immigrated to South Dakota in the 1860s there was land to homestead, but it ran out when their kids grew up. The kids went to North Dakota where there still was some. That was all gone by the time my mom grew up. Things change.

That doesn't make it our fault so that our children's education should suffer to take in more kids than their schools can appropriately serve.

And you are wrong about the reasons we don't 'go after' legals. The whole REASON we resent illegals is that they came above quotas set to protect quality of life here. Their better life is at the expense of that quality of life.

DO you know what the Dillingham Flaw is???

Didn't think so...

Google that...educate yourself....then come back!

EDIT TO ADD----

Here make it easy for you.....but you STILL will probably NOT get it.

The Dillingham Flaw

Making overly simplistic & historical comparisons between 2 different immigrant groups by failing to consider:

Differences in technological evolution between the 2 immigrant groups

Greater time the past immigrants had to acculturate

Changed structural conditions in US due to industrialization & urbanization.

The difference between the Irish and the Mexicans......... The Irish came here legally through Ellis Island. The Mexicans and Central Americans are crawling across the boarder illegally.

I vote in every election and I am more than willing to go to war for my country if that means we can get rid of the illegals.

~Sorry you are right I didn't catch that. Thanks for the heads up~

I am 3rd generation. My family just came over here thought EIsle Island. That would be the 1899
Guess what they did do it legally.
Guess I do vote.
Guess what I did fight and I will fight for my country.
I think you should read American History 101 bud.

do you know why the Irish was given a hard time. they came here trying to change thongs. like the illegals are doing now. in the 80s i went to a small grocery store, corner stores what they are called in the north. there was a woman there from Ireland. loved her accent. we started talking about religion. she said she is catholic, and i told her my dad was pradicent. she made a face and said oh, that's baptist. don't talk about something you know nothing about. if i went to an bother country i would go legal and not make demands.

Laws change. Sometimes for the better, quit living in the past and quityourbitchin' that we actually EXPECT people to follow ALL of the laws here or go the f*ck home.

Yes, nativism repeats itself over and over again and people can't seem to learn from it. Germans had Nativism against Jewish people, then Americans with English ancestry had nativism against Irish people, now many white Americans regardless of ancestry have Nativism against Latinos A.K.A. "illegal aliens." Goodness knows who will be the next victim of these people; if I was to guess I would say Middle Easterners.
