Technically I should be also panicing and warning you to take it off immediately or else something aweful and terrible might happen to you (like some have above). Even though it is true.
But I also got my nose pierced by a gun. And like you, after I did some research I found that the gun was dangerous. The thing is whatever damage a gun would have done to you should have either a) already taken affect or b) won't be able to go away even if you take out your piercing. I'm taking about the severe damages though.
You might have been the lucky one. Me, I got an infection a week later. Don't know if it's because of the gun or something else.
I highly suggest in confronting your piercer with these facts. Also ask them of what jewelry they pierced it with.
If you are still worried I suggest approaching your doctor with this concern. Honestly, you should not take any of our answers here seriously because this is not professional advice. If you decide to keep it or take it out, it's up to you after you get your doctors or some other professional's opinion.
So far while you're waiting, yes continue to clean it. Avoid hydrogen peroxide and soap. Clean it with your aftercare solution they provided. However, don't start cleaning more than they asked you to in a day or else it can cause irritation. And DO NOT TOUCH IT. Unless you have to adjust it you can not touch it and when you have to wash your hands with soap and water first.
Good luck and remember to contact your piercer and doctor!

If you got it pierced with a gun and it's an earring, you should def take it out and get it redone later on properly...
Guns are made for the ears, not your nose. And anything with a butterfly backing on it isn't good for your nose. Stuff will get trap in there. You will probably also develop a bump on the inside because of the gun. A piercing gun just shoves the earring in and causes a lot more trama than a hollow needle. Also, the gun just shoves the skin out of the way, where as the hollow needle actually collects any skin that would otherwise form a bump...
Next time you go get pierced... Honestly, do your research.

I got my nose pierced with a earring gun, that was 5 yrs ago and i still have it. Although, my nose took a couple years to fully stay open and i think that is because of the gun. You will be fine, any kind of earring is fine. but i would def change it in a a few weeks to a regular sized nose ring. Why? because regular nose rings have a smaller post than an earring, so once you decide later in life that you dont want it, the hole will be smaller. plus i think it looks better, i changed mine the day i got it done, but everyone has a different reaction. Just keep cleaning it.

NO
it will not be okay.
if its recently. yes you fdont have problems yet but oyu will
1) that snot high grade metal you have in
2) wrong jewelyr is in there
3) who the hell pierced it wiht a gun for you? they shoudl be shot
4) it is not appropriate gauge and you hav epotential risk for the cheese cutter effect (think of cheese and a wire and your piercing and the jewelry, the jewely is too small)
5) the jewely is not of appropriate lenght
you will most likely develop hypertrophic scarring. It is AHUGE possibility that you will. you have the wrong jewelry in there, probably of poor quality.. they are ugly and are painful
you can develop keloids as well you have just shoved a blunt object thoguth the cartilage of your nose.. a needle makes a clean cut through. gun pushes everythign aside
what is your after care?
i would take it out immediately. let it heal for a few months (about 3) and get it redone by a professional.
take a look a these websites
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Hypertrophic_Scarring
i have had this kind of scarring.. its still there after a few months of changing my jerely. I got my 2 cartilage piercings done with a needle. but they put in inappropriate jewelry (earring studs) they were the right size. and all good quality. but they were not the proper length. they are just ab otu gone though.. i developed tis kind of scarring after 3 months i had my piercings.. even though they felt fine till the 3 months mark.
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Piercing_Gun
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Piercing_Studs
i would take it out so you dont develop comlications. which is a big big possibility! since it was pierced wrong first off.. and you dont have the proper jewelyi n.. you wont be able to put in a regular nose bone or srew either as they are larger gauges than that earring you have in now...
and you are not supposed to use tea tree oil, rubbing alcohol or ointments, or hydrogen peroxide.. unles you want to add onto your complications... take it out as soon as possible and get it redone professionally. you will not be able to put in a nose stud. as these are THICKER and you will need to get it stretched (which is painful, for my earlobes at least, i coulndt imagine cartilage though!) this si why im saying take it out and get it repierced the right way.. plus how the hell did you get that huge gun up your nose???!

I got my nose pierced with a gun when I was 5 for my birthday.... now im 18 turning 19 in may and I still havent had any problems with my nosering. I've repierced another whole beside it by accident and I've used a regular earring to put in my nose and to this day I havent had any problems. No puss, no swelling no bumps. You will be fine unless you notice any changes.

They say you should get pierced with a hollow needle, not a piercing gun. This is because piercing with hollow needles tend to heal better than piercing with guns. It's also because Hollow needles are a lot easier to disinfect than guns. I'd say as long as it feels okay and there's no sign of infection, you'll be just fine.

It should be fine. Some places will only pierce it with an earring looking thing then after a while you can change it. Apparently it will heal faster that way. Just keep cleaning it and you can get some tea tree oil from the drugstore. That usually helps as well! Oh...and don't play with it!

No you should probably have it removed ASAP just to be safe of infections. if the gun hast even a hair size worth of rust on it, you can get infected and die!
