Overheard some people at my work making fun of bodybuilding....making fun of their veins, about how they're all "insecure" and denying their homosexuality supposedly. What would cause people to think this way? Jealousy maybe? Insecure themselves?

Surely it's not a lack of insecurity on the bodybuilders part. A lot of bodybuilders are are pretty arrogant and egotistical. They majority are just people with a passion. Like your fat co-workers that love Nascar or whatever the case may be.

People don't understand the attraction to bodybuilding and like anything people don't understand, they tend to mock it.

I chalked it up to immaturity and ignorance.

I bodybuild, I've found that it has done nothing but build confidence and self-esteem. Some people think the veins look weird, but they are a sign of good development and low body-fat contents, so they are nothing to be ashamed of. I think people who make fun of bodybuilding are either ashamed of their own bodies or don't understand it for some reason. So a combination of jealousy, insecurity, and lack of understanding are probably what cause it. When people see someone who excels in a way they either cannot or do not, they feel threatened.

I don't know, but I sure wouldn't say that to one... or I'd be the one feeling insecure.
