I guess you could make a pie any shape you wanted to. I even have some old pie pans that came from my Great Aunt and they are shaped like this..../====/. You cut the pie into 6 triangle pieces. The only thing that is different with different shapes, really, is how much crust each piece of pie has on it. That will depend on where it came from in the pan. I suspect that is why circular pans are popular, all the pieces look alike.

You can make Pies in any shape...It just depends on how you want to cut them. The Germans make a wonderful Plum Pie in a deep square pan....and then cut into squares and topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream...Sherry N..

A pie is just a baked, filled pastry. Ever heard of a meat pie? They're not round.

It is probably possible, but it might be hard to get out the pan when it is done. I think you should just stick to making pies in a round pan.
